2022 Hoop 10-GPR Camp MS Division
2027
Danai Perez-5’3 G (Cavazos)
Perez impressed me almost immediately with her “quick release” which will translate into “catch and shoot” as she progresses. Her first step is tough, and so is her attacking and finishing using good body control
Zulet Jaramilo-5’4 G (Dumas)
Jaramillo is heady, always a good sign, and handles the ball as well as sees the floor under pressure. She also understands how to control the tempo and can score both off the dribble as well as from the outside with her jumper
Braelyn Rogers-5’5 G (Bonham)
Rogers showed her creativity around the basket to score on a variety of moves including the all-but-forgotten “up and under”. She also attacked the basket from the wing and showed she could score from outside. Solid upside
Angelina Hernandez-5’5 G (Randall)
Hernandez understands something very important at this stage and that’s how to create contact. She scored off the dribble numerous times and drew the foul yet her outside shooting will also come in handy. She sees the floor nicely
Aaliyah Padilla- 5’2 G (Friona)
Padilla and her “on the ball” defense was consistent throughout the event but she showed something else, well more than one thing. She could score by attacking the basket and she could drop it from outside, DEEP outside
Addison Armstrong-5’3 G (Seminole)
Armstrong chose her opportunities nicely and her consistent dropping of the midrange will be HUGE. She plays within herself and understood how to score in the flow but she also rebounded against taller players
Austyn Flowers-5’9 F (Seminole)
Flowers was impressive for a number of reasons. She scored a variety of ways around the basket, she also scored after contact yet her ability to drop the fadeaway consistently had me hitting rewind several times. She also scores off the dribble from the wing
Carmella Guerrero-5’5 G (Bonham)
Guerrero has numerous stars by her name and rightfully so. She scores multiple ways, off the dribble while creating contact, dropping the jumper yet her step back was very nice to go along with the pull-up jumper. She also scored on the continuation as she stayed with it using nice body control
Jaylyne Bjork-5’0 CG (Crockett)
Bork had my head spinning, I’m serious because her crossover at this stage is way ahead of her years. Her first step is dangerous as she gets by the defender yet she sees the floor and makes the right passes over and over. Throw in her pull-up jumper and all I can say is watch out
Kaydence Ramirez-5’0 G (Hereford Preparatory)
Ramirez also had me dizzy with her “spin moves” and I just chuckled because does it naturally in the flow. She creates her shot and drops it mid to long-range, she handles the ball and sees the floor, one more time, #sizedontmatter when you can play
Kamryn Soukup-5’7 F (Bonham)
Soukup has a barrage of moves to get open from the defender and her between-the-legs going full speed JUST DID IT for me. Very nice ballhandling, in traffic as well as court vision, and she, scores both off the dribble and from outside
Mazzy Budd-5’5 G/F (Bonham)
Budd left a lasting impression for a number of reasons. First of all, she plays taller than she is, rebounded against taller, bigger, and stronger players yet showed she could score on putbacks against them. She also scored off the dribble and from the midrange
Miley Bates-5’3 G (Seminole)
Bates ain’t related to Norman but her first step is a nightmare. She can score both off the dribble yet she creates her jumper under pressure and knock both the midrange and long-range jumpers down with a hand in her face
2028
Azlyn Zallar-5’4 G (Hereford)
Zallar showed good court knowledge as well as court vision and her being able to handle the ball with either hand, was a big plus. She also scored off the dribble with either hand and made tough passes look easy
Haylee Taylor-6’5 C (Beaver)
Taylor’s height is not a typo and the jump I’ve seen in her game from the club season has that old phrase “you can’t teach size” rambling in my head. You can teach skillset and she is being taught very well because the “hands and footwork” were not there, they are now, and she’s finishing stronger and even facing the basket to score. Her upside is unlimited, plus she already has the next-level ready frame
Haven Pointer-5’5 G (Bushland)
Pointer always grabs attention and after having that initial conversation, I knew what was coming. Like a polaroid, I’m watching her on the court development right before my eyes, and her explosiveness off the dribble, with either hand, coupled with finishes after contact is overly impressive.l Her outside shooting as well as the range has gotten better and that “stop and pop” in transition is going to create some problems
Kerrington Hull- 5’5 G (Christ The King)
Hull has some nice moves at a young age to go along with her creativity to get her shot off. She has head and foot fakes and that, combined with a deceptive first step created some problems. Her jumper also created some problems, especially when she implemented the step back
Luv Finch-5’4 F (Abernathy)
Finch uses a deceptive first step as she starts slow and blows by the defender, but she also uses her body to finish strong around the basket. She understands positioning and rebounds against taller players, yes she scores on putbacks, and get this, she has good timing to block shots. I got to drop #THROWBACK
2029
Eliza Morris-5’2 G (Bonham)
Morris has some nice upside because she already understands how and when to create her shot. She did it well against older players, it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against and she scored off the dribble and from midrange, nice pull-up while being defended
Addison Montano-5’1 G (Pinnacle)
Montano also has some solid upside, again, going against older players and not being intimidated is huge but what’s even HUGER is her taking them off the dribble and finishing strongly, sometimes off balance. I also liked the pull-up jumper with a hand in her face
Alaya Guadarrama-5’3 G (HOMESCHOOL)
Guadarrama handles the ball at times effortlessly under pressure, yeah against older players yet she saw the floor and made the “correct” pass at the right time. She also scored off the dribble as well as showing she could knock it down from outside
2030
Amaya Natchtigall-5’3 G (Bushland)
Nachtigall was the BABY at the event yet you never would have known. Her upside is unlimited because she can spin on the defender, under control, going full speed, right now. I’ll mention again, she was going against older players and it didn’t phase her as she scored attacking the basket and dropping the jumper
