2022 All Eyez On Me Tip Sheet- C/0 2023

Session 2 gave me a glimpse of what was coming on the tourney for the weekend yet it also gave me a look at the progression I talk about over and over that I look for in players. That is key in whatever you do, you’re supposed to get better during this process but even more importantly, it gave me a look at some new faces so here ya go

Crystal Jones-5’9 PF (Glenn) first look at her this season with Austin Elite and she has been a TERROR. She can dominate the interior by rebounding with authority, on both ends however her powerful finishes with players literally hanging on her just deserve that #THROWBACK because she plays taller than she is. Scoring off the dribble as well as the short jumper are definite pluses

LaTerra Satcher-5’9 G (West Brook) creates her shot under pressure and uses a deceptive first step to get by the defender and finish strong but let me throw in that she’s “long and athletic” which is one of the profiles I use. Her intangibles are “timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots” plus “she plays the passing lane” and with her being a solid ballhandler, that’s also a plus

Eriana Tennison-Calderon-5’2 G (Travis) let me hashtag #sizedontmatter when you can play because off the top, she was “on the ball” applying pressure on defense and let me had she has quick hands, came up with steals, and saw the floor. She also did a good job attacking the basket as well as dropping the jumper in both the set and transition

Kenadi Austin-5’3 G (John Marshall) the pull-up jumper impressed me before the games started as she understood how to set the defender up multiple ways to get her shot off. She scored off the dribble, attacking the basket with either hand, her court vision was also good but when she showed the step-back, that JUST DID IT for me, and one more time #sizedontmatter when you can play

Nayia Lockett-5’10 F (Travis) creates her shot very well under pressure and showed how powerful she was off the dribble as the first step definitely created some problems. Her ability to finish after contact was also solid and she did something I love seeing, she plays within herself meaning she lets it come to her but that same creativity worked for her to get her shot off from outside

Perma Rosacker-5’8 G (Incarnate Word) pull-up jumper was nice during the 1-on-1 drill which is why I always make that my “must-see” but she also showed it during the 5 on 5 games. I also enjoyed her applying heat on defense, she forced players into traps, she also read the screens before they were set, and saw the floor

Reagan Pavesi- 5’4 G (Vista Ridge) her deceptive first step gets the defender leaning and she used it over and over, both in the drills as well as the games but after using that to attack and finish, she showed she could drop the jumper with a hand in her face. In the open court, I was impressed with her crossover going full speed, she used it at the right time and hit the “stop and pop” afterward

Valerie Edson- 5’2 G (Round Rock) another player who gets that #sizedontmatter dropped and first of all, she’s heady and understands how to “get hers in the flow” yet her pull-up jumper was effective in transition, she even handled the ball coast to coast to either finish or hit her teammates but she also did a good job on the defensive end

Tyra Oliver-5’7 G (Harker Heights) is another huge surprise from Austin Elite, caught her early at Queens Of The Hardwood and she left a lasting impression. Yeah I’d seen her in high school but this is why I emphasize placing yourself in multiple settings in front of someone that knows what they’re looking at, and by that I mean ME, but it’s about her and that pull-up jumper is so smooth because she elevates over the defender to drop it. She too is “long and athletic” and plays solid “on the ball” defense but she plays the passing lane very well. Throw in quick hands for steals, her court vision is nice so are her numerous fakes to attack and finish so TO for TD !
