2021 I-35 Showcase (San Antonio) 2023 Tip Sheet

JANIAH PERKINS

Great group bunched in together from the 2023 class, many showing they will play somewhere at the next level, including D1, as well as some on the verge of breaking out. I count no one out, never count yourselves out, no matter what so here ya go

Janiah Perkins-5’3 G she went hard in the 1 on 1 drill, yeah I know it’s just a drill but also know this ain’t my first rodeo so her attacking and finishing, showing the jumper as well as her “on the ball defense” all set the stage for the 5 on 5 and to see she made things happen would be an understatement

Annalia Cuellar-5’4 G set the defender up to create her shot numerous times and watching her score off the dribble was nice, show was her hitting the jumper which I have grown accustomed to. Solid court vision and good defense also stood out

Madison Guzman-5’4 G did a good job attacking the basket from a variety of spots ad when you can comfortably take the defender off the dribble and finish, that’s always good but what helps is when you have a jumper to mix it up and her pull-up definitely kept the defender honest

Tayden Hanks-5’11 SF did a good job creating her shot and show she knock down the jumper as well as put it on the floor and get to the rim yet her rebounding on both ends of the court was very nice as she follows the ball off the rim. She also showed she could defend both inside and outside the paint

Evangeline  Hernandez-5’3 G showed she could score off the dribble in the 1 on 1 and that translated nicely over to the 5 on 5 where she added “after contact” to the equation yet I kept adding watching her create her shot which included a solid jumper with a hand in her face

Gianna  Kinney-5’9 G off the dribble was nice as her deceptive first step created issues yet the issues kept coming in as she played the passing lane and her ballhandling enabled her to score going the other way, well her ballhandling also enabled her to go coast to coast after rebounding

Raya Kolysko-5’6 G created her shot nicely under pressure and can attack off the dribble with either hand as well as finish, with either hand, after contact yet she also applies pressure on the defensive end, this includes baseline to baseline

Emma Koziel-5’5 G created her shot under pressure nicely and numerous times to attack and finish as well as show the pull-up yet her court vision definitely was another plus as she saw the floor in transition and showed she could hit teammates while attacking the basket

Analisa  Alicea-5’5 G the pull-up jumper always gets my attention and when it’s consistently made, it keeps my attention yet her creating her shot to drop it was nice because she also could attack and finish using that creativity, her defense was solid and she saw the floor well

AUDREY HERNANDEZ

Audrey Hernández-5’2 G solid defense off the top just grabbed me as she was on her man like glue but she reacts well off the switch and understands how to trap, that’s definitely a lost art so I was pumped but watching her get to the rim off the dribble and finish was equally refreshing

Sarah Morales-5’7 G always cool as a cucumber, if the game is on the line, she wants the ball and she delivers because she understands how to create her shot while being defended tightly and she can knock it down from mid to long range, well she also finishes after contact

Emma Norsworthy-5’10 SF attacks the basket hard off the dribble and finishes strongly after contact, with either hand, so throw in her size and athleticism and you have someone to deal with because of her power, this flips over to the other ends where she won’t be outworked for rebounds

Madison  Olguin-5’6 G heady guard that plays within herself and finds ways to contribute that may not appear to the novice or show up on a scoresheet yet she can shoot it, the jumper, including under pressure is always nice, so is her attacking and finishing strongly after contact

Madison  Ortega-5’1 G I love hashtagging and #sizedontmatter definitely works when you can play, she can definitely play and just her handling the ball and seeing the floor under pressure, understanding how to control tempo as well as shooting the outside shot, were all nice

Ellie Maldonado-5’7 G her pull-up jumper was smooth yet it was also accurate and she showed it by either creating her shot or doing it in transition but she also attacked the basket numerous times from various angles and finished strongly, after the lick, of yeah, she drops the long ball too

Leilani Prado-5’6 G one thing you can’t teach is desire and watching her battle for loose balls, sometimes on the floor, sometimes off the rim or just up for grb

Briseis Cuellar- 5’5 G heady guard that plays within herself and understands how to score in the flow yet with that being said, she also understands how to get the defender to lean and watching her create her shot and attack and finish after contact was nice

CHLOE RAY

Chloe Ray-5’4 G playing the passing lane is one of the quickest ways to grab my attention, it’s a pet peeve of mine when it’s not done so off the top, she had me going, add that she created her shot for the jumper as well as attacking the rim plus she applied pressure on defense with good athleticism

Téa Rodriguez-5’4 G showed she could create her shot whenever she wanted as well as attack and finish, this includes contact but she also showed the “floata” which is my way of saying floater and she scored from outside as well as saw the floor

Ariana Rodriguez-5’3 G here mere court presence stood out and set the stage on what was coming because she’s poised and just grabbed me off the top with her on the money passes in traffic as well as the way she created her shot for the jumper or to attack

Zaadiya Stovall-5’10 SF no notes needed, she’s long and athletic and just goes hard on both ends, either for rebounds, on either end or scoring showing some nice moves inside the paint as well as attacking and finishing plus that jumper was looking nice

Jazmin Vallado-5’2 G her defense stood out all day, first in the 1 on 1 drill and stayed solid when the games started but on offense, I enjoyed watching her attack off the dribble by creating her shot which also enabled her to show a nice pull-up jumper

Reagan Williams-5’8 G I can’t emphasize how much I enjoy watching players play the passing lane, she did it several times which led to baskets either from herself or a teammate from an assist, so yes she sees the floor and that helped as she scored off the dribble or made the pass

Branasia Brazleton-5’4 G off the dribble she scored however she wanted, this included “off balance” so her first step is dangerous because it gives her numerous options by either attacking or assisting. She also applied “on the ball” defense baseline to baseline

Madilyn Antopia- 5’7 G off the dribble is what I love seeing players do, well it’s one of the things and she created her shot to do it so smoothly and consistently but creating her shot also showed she could drop the midrange jumper, she did that numerous times as well as rebound
