2021 Hoop 10/ Girlz Prep Report HS Tip Sheet

PLAINVIEW, Texas

Part 2 of my West Texas tour gave me a glimpse, well more than a glimpse of some next-level locks as well as those who are on the verge of putting themselves in great positioning but the key to all of this is progression, as well as comprehension and the experience for me, was really nice since I’ve been around the game for over a score and since I love watching players score multiple ways, a whole lot showed me, well a whole lot

2022

Ellie Buffrey-5’8 G (HOMESCHOOL) nice footwork as well as moves off the dribble which allowed her to get to the basket and score and finish strongly but her ability to not only create her shot but “catch and shoot” was nice from mid to very long range but she also saw the floor well and didn’t mind diving for loose balls as well as going after the ball for rebounds, she even threw a length of the court pass on the money, TOUCHDOWN

Alice Conley-6’0 PF (HOMESCHOOL) understands how to use her body around the basket and she did a good job of “making her presence felt” on both ends of the floor. She rebounded on both ends, scored off putbacks yet she also scored with some nice moves in the paint but she added the pull-up jumper to keep defenders honest

Mikah Chapman-5’10 PF (Frenship) long and athletic is the base used by me, but more importantly, college coaches and they give scholarships so watching her elevate over defenders with ease to score in the paint or with the jumper was very nice, so was her first step as she exploded to the rim yet her playing the passing lane and “on the ball” defense just did it for me, but her timing was also nice as she blocked, altered or deflected shots

Kyndall Ragland-6’0 PF (Wildorado) she too is “long and athletic” and understands how to create her shot under pressure and she showed she could drop it from, well anywhere but her turnaround jumper in the paint was very nice and smooth, so were her hands and footwork around the basket and when you add she played solid defense as well as rebounded on both ends, that says a lot

2023

Makenna Kaunitz-5’8 G (Gilmer) saw the floor very well but she also did a good job attacking and finishing as well as attacking and dishing but her ability to create her shot made her even more effective, especially since she could knock down the pull-up jumper as well as hit the stop and pop in transition and that shooting was mid to long-range

Kinslee Millican-5’9 F (Canyon) the pull-up jumper caught my eye early, so did her wearing #51 but she mixed it up on the offensive end nicely, scored off the dribble, and saw the floor but her finishes were strong after contact. I also loved her being “vocal on the court” and said mismatch several times, she showed the turnaround jumper in those instances plus she rebounded well on both ends

Kamryn Cox-5’5 G (Dumas) creates her shot very well and squares up on the jumper and since her release is quick, she can get it off whenever she wants but she also handles the ball well and showed she could get to the rim in the open court or in the set, finishing with good body control but her playing the passing lane was equally impressive as everything else because it led to offensive opportunities

Sara Casner-5’7 G (Silverton) the pull-up jumper is strong, by that I mean she can nail it and she goes up with power yet she creates her shot in tight situations and since the jumper has to be respected, her off the dribble finishes come in handy but she also has good timing on defense and blocked some shots as well as guarded her man tightly baseline to baseline or in the halfcourt set

Cylee Lopez-5’4 G (A.C. Jones) how well did she create her shot, numerous reverse layups should give you an idea as she found ways to put the ball in the basket but her jumper was solid, she dropped it from mid to long-range and she showed she could score off the dribble using good body control to finish, this includes after contact

Bobbie Fouquet-6’0 PF (Claude) her first step set everything up and watching her attack off the dribble was nice, even nicer when she left a defender flat-footed by spinning in the open court but she is “long and athletic” and watching her glide to the rim was nice. so was her ability to see the floor and on the flip, she played the passing lane well, even blocked some shots and since she went coast to coast a few times, that tells you she can handle the ball

Danielle Pacheco-5’3 G (Planview) is one of those players that understand how to get hers “in the flow” but she also played within herself and thinks the game which I call heady yet she also can score off the dribble as well as with the jumper and her attacking the basket also showed she could finish using body control and after contact

2024

Breanna Francis-5’7 G (Silverton) creates her shot very well, showed she could knock it down from long range as well as score off the dribble yet her ability to see the floor was extra nice at her age, her passes were crisp and on the money plus she battles after, well everything which is also a good sign, not to mention she didn’t mind playing defense

Azaela Alaniz (Hereford) the crossover just did it early for me, it’s natural, she does it instinctively and it’s effective but the biggest thing about her creativity is the options because she sees the floor, off the dribble, and can also keep it and score but it probably helps even more that she can knock down the outside shot, mid to long-range because she showed that as well

Taylor Wallace-5’10 F (Plainview) uses her “college-ready frame” nicely, hands and footwork, yeah I pay attention, and watching her score around the basket, with either hand as she uses her size and skills nicely was pretty smooth, especially since she did it after contact but she also did something I love to see, she ran the floor on both ends and defended both inside and outside the paint

Andrea Sustaita-5’8 G (Caprock) so many players just understand the importance of going after the ball off the rim and she didn’t mind battling against taller players to do it. A variety of moves in her toolbox gave her options to show a nice pull-up jumper and she uses her athleticism nicely to attack the basket from, well anywhere on the court. I almost forgot she plays the passing lane well

Jaydan Bagwell-5’7 G (Valley) it’s one thing to be athletic, it’s another to use it to your advantage, and watching her leave defenders guessing in both the drills as well as 5 on 5 spoke volumes, so off the dribble, she just did it and her finishes after the lick was nice but equally impressive was how she understood when and where to show the pull-up jumper

2025

Chloe Chavez (Panhandle) I wrote deep so many times I may as well call a lifeguard because “I can’t swim” yet to her, the basket had to look like the ocean as she was dropping it from, well everywhere but she also understands how to create her shot in the set, the midrange jumper was effective, so was her attacking the rim but she doesn’t mind diving for loose balls

Sadie Sanchez-5’3 PG (Randall) all bets are off, she’s a growth spurt away from something really, really big because not only can she handle the ball, see the floor and score off the dribble, she can knock down shots, mid to long-range but even better, she makes those around her “better” archive that because that is really huge. Her acrobatic finishes were worth of Barnum and Bailey but her “poise under pressure” just grabs me as well as her upside

Giselle Hernandez-5’0 G (Hereford) you can’t teach DESIRE and when you show you’re one of those “never takes a play off” type of player in the drills, oh my. Yeah, she falls into that #sizedontamtter hashtag I float around because she can play and since I mentioned her work ethic, let me add she can score in the flow, plays solid defense, and plays within herself but don’t blink because her off the dribble finishes were nice

2026

Arissa Alaniz-5’5 G (Hereford) celebrated her birthday by putting on a show against the older girls and since I’m not a novice, that in itself gave me a present because “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” and her HEZ was just OMG, that’s hesitation yet she also dropped the mid to very long-range jumper, scored off the dribble as well as had good timing to come up with steals. Very good upside
