2020 Prime Time Nationals day 2 #NBC20

'20 NBC Morgan

MORGAN DAVIS

FRISCO, TEXAS-I was looking back at the stories I’ve written while covering Prime Time events and just smiled at the number of players I called #D1Locks on Fieldhouse Friday, the day that I dedicated to the middle school ballers and younger every year I’ve had the privilege of covering the event which is probably getting close to 10 years and guess what, I saw some more this time around that are on the verge of not only being next-level players but are already #D1Locks. Since many don’t use search bars and haven’t been around, I saw Lauren Cox in the 8th grade and said she would be either number 1 or 2 in her class, without seeing tons of talent across the country and as usual, I was right. Several people say this and that, when I say it, it happens because I know and I definitely know there were some impressive players that left lasting impressions. Please follow on my social media accounts, Twitter, Facebook and of course The Gram and as I try and SIMplify things for you, all are under Girlz Prep Report, also check my blog and please remember that search bars are there for a reason and here are some of the standouts

Reiyan Desouze-guard (Nike Cy Fair Elite Red 2026)

Desouze sold me the first time I saw her in the 3rd grade I believe and I have a knack for just knowing what’s coming because she’s not only heady, high B-IQ, but she also plays within herself and her unselfishness has always stood out at running the one because she controls tempo, sees the floor extremely well and her #sizedontmatter status doesn’t matter because she can play and when you make those around you better….. full disclaimer, I glanced at her squad for a minute, the won their age group and the game has and always will start at the one

Amber Menard-guard (Houston United 2026)

Menard did quite a few things that caught my eyes and left them wide open and initially, it was her defense, hands on the ball defense as she “manned” up baseline to baseline but she saw the floor well and by that I mean while the defense was bringing the heat at her plus she understands how to create off the dribble

Kamden Flora-guard (Houston United 2026)

Flora is ahead of the game in a number of ways, in fact so are many on this team and I’m doing something on the squad on my blog but watching Flora just think the game was and bring it because she’s athletic, understands how to get to the rim and finishes strongly but guess what, she did even more at the #AllEyezOnMe Individual Showcase and that too, is coming up

Jaclyn Silva-guard (Pro Skills 12U Zo)

Silva has plenty of tools, her first step is definitely a big one because watching her accelerate to the basket while being guarded as well finishing after contact will be useful throughout her career and it also helps that she sees the floor and can hit her teammate going full speed

Chanel Shuler-post (Pro Skills 12U Zo)

Shuler’s growth, on and off the court just grabs at me because she’s on her way to being over “the magic number’ that’s 6’0 and her frame can withstand and distribute punishment. Her hands and footwork, her ability to finish and her rebounding and getting up and down the court have all taken jumps

Morgan Davis-guard (Pro Skills 12U Zo)

Davis shocked me since I dropped that meme a few months ago with a 2- or 3-inch growth spurt and her vertical. Poised from day 1, I don’t even know what grade she was in, I’m guessing 3rd but this young lady showed me she could take over a game at that stage of her career. Now, she can get hers in the flow, creates the pull-up, attacks the basket and has good mid to long-range but even on top of that she understands the game and defends well, plays the passing lane

'20 NBC Breona Shelby

CYNTHIA LECOMPTE

CynthiaLecompte-guard (Cy Fair Elite 2024 Select)

Lecompte doesn’t have any notes by her name, only stars, and stripes so that means she could have her own flag because she definitely has star potential and her ability create and finish with contact got her several calls from the folks wearing stripes. I tied that in nicely, but her game and upside is even nicer because she’s athletic, plays the passing lane and just brings it

Sophia Semmler-forward (Cy Fair Elect 2024 Select)

Semmler is nowhere near the finished product however her physique, her agility, and her understanding positioning for rebounding, throwing the outlet, and getting up and down the court are definitely a good base to have not to leave out she finishes strongly after contact. She also showed good hands and footwork, again, her upside …..

Mylee Guinn-guard (D1 Basketball)

Guinn was one of those players who not only left a lasting first impression but showed some things that left me somewhat speechless at times because she is showing big time stuff right now, like wanting the ball and delivering in the clutch, mid to long-range is more than solid and she sees the floor extremely well but that range, oh my

Kylee Jackson -forward (D1 Basketball)

Jackson played solid on the inside but her desire is what kept grabbing at me because she battles for everything and that’s off the glass, she rebounded well on both ends, plus she went after loose balls and had some tie ups

Dara Itata-forward (D1 Basketball)

Itata has that base, long and athletic and she understands how to not only take defenders off the dribble but finish from a variety of angles. Played the passing lane, defended well and altered some shots

'20 NBC Tajuneau Gooden

TAJENAE GOODEN

Tajenae Gooden-guard (Lady Seahawks)

Gooden has made several Tip Sheets from me in the past and based on what I’m seeing, she’ll continue to do so in college but her maturity on the court ties into so much as she can do two things, score in the flow or just explode and take things over by attacking or hitting the pull-up jumper, be it mid or long-range, she can shoot it

Mariah Clayton-forward (Lady Seahawks)

Clayton is long and athletic, one more time, that’s the base she was one of many who fit that profile but she finishes strongly after contact, she rebounds and plays the passing lane but her defense in the paint or on the perimeter was solid

Vernell Atamah-forward (Lady Seahawks)

Atamah is also long and athletic but her timing is ahead of the game as she blocks, deflects or alters shots

Zaya Simmons-forward (Lady Seahawks)

Simmons is, drumroll please, long and athletic and that’s a trifecta for this squad but she finishes and I wrote UPS which means she elevates off the ground very well

Ainsley Merriman-guard (DC Queens 2024 Orange)

Merriman showed good range, she created her shot and she attacked the basket not to leave out handled the ball under pressure

Mikah Comer-guard (DC Queens 2024 Orange)

Comer caught my eye a few years ago because of her drive, not just taking the ball to the basket but that desire to compete against older players and by showing me she wouldn’t back down told me a lot. Fast forward to 3 or 4 inches taller, she has a nice mid to long-range as well as good court vision and ballhandling

Ainsley Diepenbrock-post (DC Queens 2024 Orange)

Diepenbrock understands something very important, how to use her body in the paint and she finishes with players hanging on her, that’s big, but her rebounding on both ends of the court is also big and when you throw in her defense, well that’s all something to build on

'20 NBC Jillian Topping

JILLIAN TOPPING

Jillian Topping-forward (UA Texas U 2026)

Topping adds to the list of talented sisters as she just left me mesmerized from afar. I’m watching this long and athletic girl just snatch the ball from nowhere and go coast to coast, then she showed a spin move but playing that passing lane was a treat, for me. She’s grown, she’s stronger and what she will bring as she gets older is scary

Aolani Woldai-guard (DFW Hawks 2025 King)

Woldai understands how to attack the basket strongly, over and over yet she also finishes after contact and when you tie in athleticism, her upside is nice but what’s even nicer is her “on the ball” pressure

Lily Melton-guard (DFW Hawks 2025 King)

Melton showed combo skills by understanding how to control the tempo as well as knock down the midrange and handle the ball

Presley Scott-guard (DFW Hawks 2025 King)

Scott uses her athleticism nicely and she attacks from various angles as well as handles the ball under pressure but she sees the floor nicely

'20 NBC Leajah Maddox

LEAJAH MADDOX

Leajah Maddox-forward (UA TEXAS U (MIZELL/TERRY)

Maddox is long and athletic, nice first step enables her to get to the basket and she finishes strongly, scary upside

Brooklyn Terry-forward (UA TEXAS U (MIZELL/TERRY)

Terry is also long and athletic but she understands how to score and does it by creating her shot for the mid to long-range jumper or off the dribble

Laila Holmes (UA TEXAS U (MIZELL/TERRY)

Holmes is athletic with a solid frame and she understands how to create contact and finish after she gets hit, good hands and upside also rebounds

Olivia Pennington (UA TEXAS U (MIZELL/TERRY)

Pennington definitely understands how to pin defenders in the paint but she also battles for the rebounds and does a good job at it both ends

Megyn Meekins (UA TEXAS U (MIZELL/TERRY)

Meekins is, you guessed it, long and athletic and her ability to catch and shoot will only get better as well as the three-ball she shoots will only get deeper

'20 NBC CeCe Harper

CECE HARPER

Cece Harper-forward (Texarkana Tarheels)

Harper understands what I loved to see players do and that plays the passing lane and she does it so well that at times she came from nowhere to get big steals and take it coast to coast for a finish plus it’s how she finishes that also was impressive as she does it with authority and relishes the contact as she was definitely an “and one” waiting to happen

Katelyn Evans (DC Queens Black 2024)

Evans was a #D1Lock when I saw her in 3rd or 4th grade, she’s in a select few in that category because I caught her playing up but she just understands the game and plays multiple positions well but her never give you and you won’t outwork me stands out, as well her attacking, rebounding, midrange and defending

Audrey Cline (DC Queens Black 2024)

Cline attacks the rim strongly, has a nice first step and handles the ball well plus she can man up baseline to baseline and apply pressure, but that floater, oh my

Sydnee Jones (DC Queens Black 2024)

Jones athleticism has always stood out but she understands how to play the passing lane and apply heat on defense as well as hit the pull-up

Karrington Jackson (DC Queens Black 2024)

Jackson loves to defend; in fact, this team is filled with guards that actually understand how to trap and get steals and she’s among the best on the squad. Throw in strong moves to the rim and voila

Kennidi Pettaway (DC Queens Black 2024)

Pettaway showing the way to where the game starts, at the one and she is not only comfortable at running it, she understands how to control the tempo and to keep the defense honest, she can score

'20 NBC OLivia Sauvageau

OLIVIA SAUVAGEAU

Danielle Ruffin (Texas Elite Adidas 2024 D’Addieco)

Ruffin is athletic, can score off the dribble as well as defend but her I’m watching her progression as she adds more each time, I see her

Heather Bayman (Texas Elite Adidas 2024 D’Addieco)

Bayman was a #D1Lock whenever I initially saw her and talk about adding more since I saw her earlier in March, her pull-up jumper will be among the best in the Houston area, the release is quick, she is too and she’s fearless, be ready

Brooklyn Rangel (Texas Elite Adidas 2024 D’Addieco)

Rangel is always filled with enthusiasm and she also fills up the basket from deep as multiple three-pointers are a regular game every time, I see her play and she mixes it up nicely by attacking the basket

Caitlyn D’Addieco (Texas Elite Adidas 2024 D’Addieco)

D’Addieco used to watch older sister Sydney play and while I watching her watch the game, I noticed how she was glued to what was happening, this explains why she comprehends the game and sees the floor so well. She plays within herself yet she can score and the three-ball looked good

Melinda Winston (Texas Elite Adidas 2024 D’Addieco)

Winston is on the verge of me dropping a hashtag on her, #BEAST and she has the tools, she has the power and I believe it’s coming because I’ve seen her score with two larger players hanging on  her, seriously that’s huge

Sydney Hill-guard (Just Play Elite)

Hill is athletic, creates her shot, gets to the rim strong

Rachel Ashby-guard (Just Play Elite)

Ashby showed she could put it on the floor as well as hit the long ball

Olivia Sauvageau-guard (Just Play Elite)

Saunageau does a good job handling the ball, under pressure, good upside
