2020 Duel State Combine Girls HS
The Duel State Girls Combine was definitely filled with fire and energy from the players in attendance as director Cynthia F Guillory and her team had the campers’ attention right off the top and to say this was one of the best two-day Individual Showcases I’ve covered would be an understatement. The educational segment was worth the price of admission alone, I know camps around $400 that are good for photo-shoots and nonsense most players can’t implement in games yet you have to learn the game before you can truly excel and those in attendance were definitely given knowledge.
2021
Kaliyah Parker-SG (Desoto HS) DFW Elite
Parker does a good job at creating her shot, she handles the ball in the open court and has a nice change of pace as well as a variety of other moves to get her shot off, including the step back. Her crossover comes in handy as it gets defenders to lean but her mid to long-range is also effective, as well as taking defenders off the dribble. She’s long, athletic and does a good job playing the passing lane
Aijanna Barnes-G (Plano West HS) PUSH
Barnes was powerful on the inside, on both ends of the floor and she rebounded well, also on both ends. She made the outlet pass, she ran the floor, she defended in the paint and she finished numerous times after contact
Isabella Gonzalez-F (Atkins Early College HS) Hays County Hornets
Gonzales thinks the game and her “heady” play showed through the event as created her shot to either attack the rim strongly or drop the midrange jumper which was fluid and consistent but her defense, on ball, baseline to baseline or in the halfcourt setting looked pretty good. She also battles for everything
Pistol Knox-G (Atkins Early College HS) Hays County Hornets
Knox was another player that battled constantly for everything, she was even on the floor diving for loose balls but her battling didn’t stop there as she rebounded and she attacked the rim numerous times for baskets
Semaiyah Childers-G
Childers attacks the basket hard, she did it both both days yet she also showed she could not only take defenders strongly off the dribble but she did a good job of creating her shot under pressure. Her ability to create showed the pull-up jumper from midrange was solid yet she also showed she could shoot the long ball and with her athleticism, pressure defense stood as well
Jasmine Taylor-PG/SG (Hays HS) Hays County Hornets
Taylor plays the silent assassins’ role to a tee because she does so many things that don’t show up on the stat sheet yet she can fill it up with the blink of an eye. Her first step starts it off, she can blow by defenders with ease and hit teammates going full speed for assists or she can shoot the mid to long-range jumper effectively. Good BB-IQ coupled with court vision makes her a multiple threat
Quiarra Bolton-F (BenBrook Middle HS) Ft Worth Young Warriors
Bolton may not be related to Michael but she was a hit in numerous ways, first, she’s long and athletic, that’s the base, secondly, she has “ups” which means she explodes off the ground and when you factor in her playing the passing lane which leads to layups going the other way, she does even more like blocking shots and showing the step-back from midrange
Kyara Reynoso-SG (North Crowley HS) Ft Worth Young Warriors
Reynoso had plenty of offensive tools to choose from, first of all, she handles the ball and sees the floor very well, makes the right pass, and can do it through traffic yet she also can create her shot and take the defender with either hand and finish the same way but watching her set defenders up, especially for the fadeaway was definitely a highlight for me plus she can shoot the long ball
2022
Makia Lovelace-PF/G (Clinton HS)
Lovelace had a nice showing as she opened day 1 with plenty of attacking the basket and going up and under for layups yet day 2, she created her shot nicely for the pull-up jumper and battled for loose balls and rebounding, but she attacked more and stronger, finishing several times after contact and her defense was solid on top of that
Brianna Wilson-PF (Atkins Early College HS) Hays County Hornets
Wilson was added to the PGH Texas Top 100 after this event, I don’t even after to look at the notes because it’s embedded in my head, and watching her dominate from both ends of the court was definitely a #THROWBACK. Yes she finished with players hanging on her and created her shot off the dribble for the short jumper and yes she defended strongly in the paint yet in that same paint she showed an array of ways to score
Katelynn Isely-SG/PG (Hays HS) Hays County Hornets
Isely is a heady guard that plays within herself, she can attack the rim and finish or take the pull-up jumper, both are done by her creating her shot yet she also can handle the ball and see the floor yet that attacking was hard to stop on both days as she finished with contact. She also can push the ball in transition or run the offense in the halfcourt
Selena Dominguez-PG (South Hills HS) Ft Worth Young Warriors
Dominguez also plays within herself, understands how to run a team and she did a good job with that because she can handle the ball and see the floor but that’s not all she showed. I love seeing #THROWBACK stuff, she creates the midrange nicely so the pull-up was definitely a good sign but an even better one was watching her “follow her shot” which has become a lost art
Dashanti Hall-PG (Trimble Tech HS) Ft Worth Young Warriors
Hall may not be kin to Arsenio yet she was definitely a hit, the FIRST step got everything going, and watching her drop the “floata” effortlessly had me smiling but she attacked the basket multiple ways and finished multiple ways because she has good body control. She also defends strongly, she understands how to apply pressure and came away with numerous steals
Ivonne Morales-SG/PG (R.L Paschal HS) Ft Worth Young Warriors
Morales was another player that understood how to help her team without scoring and that’s always good to see yet she showed that she could “get hers” by creating her shot to take defenders off the dribble or take the pull-up jumper. She handled the ball well and saw the floor extremely well coming up with numerous assists
Za’Kori Kilgore
Kilgore is athletic and creates problems because of her ballhandling as well as speed with the ball. She creates her shot, the pull-up is hard to handle as well as her first step which allows her to blow by many with ease. She can finish acrobatically, she even had the “SHOT OF THE DAY” but on top of all of that, she plays the passing lane very well
Nesha Stephens-PG (Odessa HS) Texas Elite Force
Stephens just brought tons of energy to go along with her BB-IQ and watching her create her shot, attack the basket as well as shoot it, were all good yet she does a great job at handling the ball while attacking the rim and can make the pass going full speed for assists. She finishes strongly, she can shoot the long ball and she plays the passing lane
Tatum Stone
Stone did a good job attacking the basket and finishing as well as rebounding numerous times on the offensive end and scoring off of put backs. She elevates off the floor well, that enabled her to out rebound taller opponents on both ends
Aniya Cramer-P (Little Elm HS) Lady Soarers
Cramer has good size as well as a college ready body and first of all, she’s constantly moving and showed good hands and footwork so she stands over “the magic number” of 6’0, she rebounds on both ends of the floor and runs the floor. Her ability to finish as well as see the floor from the post position were both great signs and she blocks shots
2023
Majesty Cade-G (Saint Anthony HS California) Cal Sparks
Cade’s name preceded her yet her explosiveness on day 1 had me sold. She understands how to take defenders with either hand and she finishes the same way, with either hand, after contact. She’s powerful and is a nightmare to defend because she simply doesn’t let up and in the open court, you can almost forget about it because with her speed and athleticism, scores smoothly and acrobatically but she also sees the floor and her pinpoint passe were a huge highlight, as well as her NBA range
Alaysia Brown
Brown showed she could knock down the midrange as well as create her shot. She plays within herself and understands how to contribute by doing things that may not show up on a stat sheet yet she also was able to get hers in the flow on the offensive end
Faith Robinson-Atkins-PF (North Crowley HS) FT Worth Young Warriors
Robinson has a solid body and knows how to use it. She moves well so the agility can create some problems as she finishes strong as well as rebounds on both ends of the court. I also liked her defense, not only in the paint but her mobility to step outside of it and hold her man. She runs the floor and has some good upside
Elyse Sellers-PF (Brennan HS) San Antonio Lady Hoops
Sellers showed me yet another side of her game, I love progression and she continues to add but first, she’s long and athletic and does a good job at playing the passing lane, I knew that but she attacked the basket relentlessly and scored acrobatically numerous times as well as took defenders from the wing and elevated over them for the jumper. Her on-ball defense keeps getting better as well
Maddie Velez-SF (Brennan HS) San Antonio Lady Hoops
Velez showed me quite a bit including her ballhandling under pressure, first going coast to coast for layups and them in the half-court setting where she attacked and finished strongly numerous times but she also has a nice pull-up jumper that she can create off the dribble and she played good defense, man to man full court
Marissa Taylor-PG/SG (Johnson HS) Hays County Hornets
Taylor falls into that “heady” category as she just understands how to run a squad efficiently an d by that, controlling the tempo when needed or pushing the ball if it’s there but her ballhandling and seeing the floor play a huge part in that, as well as her being able to create her shot under pressure which she can use to attack and dish as well
Mary O’Leary-P (Wimberly HS) Hays County Hornets
O’Leary used her body nicely, she moves well and showed she could finish with players hanging on her. She rebounds and runs the floor but her upside is what’s even more impressive as she comprehends the simple things and shows that desire to get better
Chayse Goetz-G/F (New Braundels Canyon HS) San Antonio Lady Hoops
Goetz gets a lot of baskets as I “play on words” with her name, she’s playing on the court sending messages and what I really enjoyed about watching her is not only the progression that she’s shown, that’s why I added her to the PGH Top 100 Watchlist, it’s her poise and how she reacts but that jumper, either the pull-up or stopping on a dime in transition, was clicking as well as taking defenders at will, finishing after contact
Ella Hartman-PG (Fredricksburg HS) Fredricksburg Pride
Hartman showed me yet another side of her game, I knew she was a smart PG that understood the game, could handle the ball and run a team but she can take over a game offensively if needed. Her mid to long range is accurate, she creates either with good ballhandling yet that same ballhandling enables her to take defenders off the dribble and score but she still sees that floor very well
2024
Victoria Barrera-SG (Amarillo HS) Amarillo Lady Heat
Barrera was added to the PGH 2024 Watchlist after she left me speechless, her ability to score multiple ways was among the best at the event. Yes she can create her shot for md to long range, she can also score off the dribble and finish with contact but she’s scrappy and understands how to get in front of everyone on the break for easy baskets. Her entry passes were superb, she played the passing lane and defended
Jatori Brown
Brown battled for everything, loose balls on the floor or going out of bounds, she also did it in the paint against taller players for rebounds but she also did a good job of not only attacking the basket but finishing with both hands, after contact. Good upside, her energy was second to none a she falls into that “never takes a play off” type of player
A’Nae Atchinson-PG (Mikwood Academy)
Atchinson is athletic and uses her athleticism wisely as she attacks the rim very strong, can make the pass while attacking or just finish herself but she also understands how to create her shot and create space for the jumper. She plays defense, baseline to baseline and also showed she could play the passing lane
Landry Mills-F (Arlington HS) Ft Worth Yong Warriors
Mills was definitely listening prior to the games when the players were educated on “how to trap” because she did it as well as anyone, this led to numerous steals which led to numerous baskets, either from her or from her making the pass on the money. She also showed she could create her shot and attack the basket yet she also showed she could not only shoot it, but catch and shoot it
Kiera Cailtin-G (Putnam City North HS) Top Notch Divas
Caitlin is a high energy player that can block shots abundantly and that and her defense immediately stood out but so did her timing as she not only read the court but played the passing lane. You can’t teach effort and she just won’t stop coming at you, not only on the defensive end but offensively as well as she attacked numerous times and finished after contact
Madison McKinnon-CG (Fredricksburg HS) San Antonio Lady Hoops 2024
McKinnon sold me I guess three years ago as i watched her playing up and since then, her game has done the same, went up. She’s poised and confident and can not only run a team but take over offensively with the mid to long range or attacking the rim yet she loves and understands the importance of getting teammates involved, this opens up everything else yet if needed, she can, well just do it
