2020 Bigfoot Kingwood Classic Tip Sheet
CYPRESS, TEXAS-I had the pleasure of covering the Bigfoot Kingwood Classic after a call from David Stephens and when he calls, I’m doing because he has done the same for me countless times and I love dealing with people I can trust and over the past 20 years, what he has turned Prime Time Sports into has been amazing. With teams from as far as Las Vegas competing in the event, I was scrambling to try and get as much as I could on each team so I came away with some surprises as well as some Prep Girls Hoops add-ons because one more time, “talent is everywhere, if you know what you’re looking at”
11/12 Grade Division
(Principles First Select)
Lyric Barr
Barr’s upside is intriguing for a number of reasons. She’s young, has a college-ready body, and improves each tournament I catch her, I think this was the fourth this season but her sheer strength in the paint combined with standing around the magic number, that’s 6’0 tells me a lot especially when she’s taking defenders off the dribble and playing the passing lane
Sasha Fernandez
Fernandez is gritty, does so many things that won’t show up on a score or stat sheet yet she gets after it diving for loose balls, setting screens that lead to assists or baskets, and just goes hard but watching her attack the basket and score or throw “no look” passes for assists was nice
Sania Thomas
Thomas is long and athletic, that’s the base and remember that can create a lot of problems. She’s adding more to her game, playing the passing lane, score on the short jumper as well as finishing after contact but her defense has shot up outside the paint and that, along with good timing
Jasmine Green
Green used power in the paint nicely and that’s both ends of the court as she showed #BEASTLIKE signs. She rebounds on both ends and makes her presence felt on offense as she showed she could finish strong, after contact. Good hands and footwork, she runs the floor and doesn’t shy away from the battling, either diving on the floor for loose balls or going into the stands
TNBA 17U
Elizabeth Walton
Walton creates off the dribble, has a nice pull-up jumper in transition but I already knew that. Her range has extended as well as her improved ballhandling but her mental toughness left me speechless as she took a hard lick attacking the basket, wait, a very hard lick and a couple of minutes later she was back dropping baskets
Lauren Smith
Smith falls into that quote a #RealEvaluator has been saying all century, size don’t matter, when you can play but she has long arms and is very athletic plus the heat she applies on defense is smothering. She plays the passing lane and even showed she could drop the long ball
Lady Defenders Black
Aniya Foy
Foy is the only player whose name I actually know and it’s because of two things, she has played in several showcases I’ve covered and she’s one of the top 2025 players not only in Texas but the country, it doesn’t take me long to know what I’m looking at and after picking up her first D1 offer a few weeks ago, what’s next. Well she’s long and athletic, she can attack, create her shot from mid to long and she’s fearless
Rice Raptors Legacy
Savannah Velazquez
Velazquez has amazed me for years but the performance she put on was just amazing as she was just unstoppable. Speed, ballhandling and speed with the ball, under control to either make the pass or just attack the rim and finish which she did after contact time and time again. Don’t get it twisted, she scorches the nets from long range and defends plus her mindset is “you can’t stop me” and one more time, size doesn’t matter because she can play
Atria Dumas
Dumas is over “the magic number” and is finishing better, with contact as well as rebounding stronger on both ends. Outside of being tall, she’s long and athletic, runs the floor, and did a good job defending
America Castillo
Castillo created her shot nicely, she knocked the midrange down consistently as well as the stop and pop in transition but her poise and maturity on the court has shot up and with more confidence, she definitely made a statement
Precious Jackson-Sanders
Jackson-Sanders wore my all-time favorite NBA player growing up number and that was 13 and it’s been way over 13 months since I saw her play yet she made my Tip sheet on that initial sighting. She’s athletic, goes hard on both ends and finishes strong
Thaisilyn Payton
Payton applied heat on defense, was relentless on the boards, and falls into that “never takes a play off category” but she showed she score either finishing in the paint or hitting the short jumper
Taylor Jones
Jones is an explosive scorer, off the dribble and finishes with flair as well as acrobatics and one of the best “catch and shoot” long ball threats I’ve seen in 2024 class, yep she’ll be added to PGH
Big Basketball Academy Hurricanes
Lily Baumgardner
Baumgardner set the tone early, for me because she’s long and athletic, she passes the ball well, she attacks smoothly and finishes with contact but she also has good hands and comes with many steals including the passing lane
Daniela Alzate
Alzate was definitely a factor and a force to be reckoned with as she rebounded and finished very strong and just made things happen with solid, smart play on both ends of the court and even though she suffered an injury and didn’t play in the championship, her play and leadership helped them get there
Sarah Narum
Narum was solid before the championship game, showed the “floata” as well as a nice pull-up but in that championship game, down the stretch, she put on one of the best individual performances in the final two minutes I’ve seen from any player this club season scoring either the last 8 or the last 8 out of 10 to help her team win the championship
Ximena Diez
Diez is heady, sees the floor, and handles the ball well but she also can attack the basket buckets or attack and dish
Evelyn Harrington
Harrington attacks from a variety of angles or straight down the middle but her performance in the second half of the championship game played a huge part in their double digit come from behind victory
Summer Halphen
Halphen showed me she could and finish or use the “floata”, I have my own terminology yet she also can create her shot under pressure and nail it over and over but that creativity also helped take defenders off the dribble
Kennedy Johnson
Johnson is strong and has a strong body and she understands how to use but her mobility and agility was impressive as she too showed the “floata” but on top of that, she plays smart and within herself but could also shoot the pull-up jumper
9/10 Grade
Principles First Select
Brenna Nelson
Nelson is long and athletic, sort of, but did a good job finishing
Pro Skills SATX
Lexie Edwards
Edwards is entering high school with a college-ready body that’s not only coordinated but already showing major signs of being a force. Good hands and footwork, rebounds and finishes
Lyah Neira
Neira creates her shot under pressure and that enables her to either attack the rim or take the midrange but the long-range is solid, especially the “catch and shoot”
Kendall Beck
Beck is 6’2 and 2024, she’s long and athletic, has range and creates her shot but she also played the passing lane and has scary upside
TNBA 15U
Lyllian Walton
Walton creates her shot, has a nice pull-up jumper and plenty of upside but she “ain’t scared” even filled in on the older team
7/8 Grade
Power Basketball 2025
Jakaila Lee
Lee is an explosive scorer, she can drop the three with ease, has a quick release and an even quicker first step that sets the tone for the “stop and pop” or attack the basket
Brooklyn Mims
Mims upside is scary, she’s long and athletic and has just about mastered the spin move plus she plays the passing lane
Keynarjah Robinson
Robinson is on a mission, she’s also long and scary and can already create her shot for a nice pull-up jumper, and guess what, she plays the passing lane
Brittnay Anderson
Anderson plays up on this squad and she’s an early 2026 WATCHLIST candidate because she handles the ball under pressure, creates her shot, and can shoot it
San Antonio Select
Jocelyn Torres 2025
Torres attacks and finishes, doesn’t shy away from contact on either end, and rebounds on both ends of the court
Carleigh Reyes 2026
Reyes handles are scary because what she’s doing now at her age against older girls tells me I need to keep a close on her. She creates her shot, knocks it down and one more time, #sizedontmatter when you can play
Houston United
Sophia Rodriguez
Rodriguez already had me watching strongly yet the improvement from #AllEyezOn me until now tells me a lot, especially watching her create here shot playing up. This team has some stars of the future, she’s one of them
Kamden Flora
Flora’s ceiling has a hole in it because there’s no limit on how high she can elevate it. Athletic, smart, creates off the dribble or the stop and pop in transition or the pull-up jumper, plus she rebounds and handles the ball well
Ava Ford
Ford turned her game up several notches and just left me speechless. She’s young, long, and athletic so what does that tell you about the base? Home run is in the future as she continues to touch each plate but her defense, timing, and rebounding are going create issues and her offense, watch what’s coming
Lady Aces
Natalie Vargas
Vargas was definitely a bright spot for the team from Las Vegas as she was “go to” girl on offense, did a good job handling the ball and rebounding
