2019 Summer Elite Championship Tip Sheet Sheet
SARAH ANDREWS
The Summer Elite Showcase was everything I thought it would be and then some and there was no way I was going to miss this event featuring every EYBL squad from Texas as well as Missouri and tons of talent to go around. I usually find gems and unknowns because as I’ve stated for years that talent is everywhere and when you combine that with something I else I’ve always said, it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against so here are 30 plus, I could actually have given you over 100, so stay tuned, you never know what will pop up on Twitter, The Gram, Facebook or wherever I choose to “set it off” always be ready because I always will, here we go
BRITTNEY FIELDS
2020
Sarah Andrews 5’7 PG ( Proskills 17U EYBL) when I call you a D1 Lock in the 5th grade, I’m not guessing and she went over and beyond with her desire to be the best. Scored from every wand landed on coaches numerous times taking the lick for and one opportunity
Camryn Hill 5’11 F (AD Elite Peterson) aggressive on both ends, played passing lane well and showed a nice pull-up in transition. That, as well as her ability to attack and finish strong, made her a threat
Aisha Thompson 5’11 SF (Drive Nation 17U EYBL) her athleticism and ability to toy with the rim has always been an eye-catcher but her relentlessly attacking the basket, rebounding, and defending were highlights throughout the event
Deja Kelly 5’8 PG (Drive Nation 17U EYBL) another spectacular offensive performance was definitely a shooting exhibition as she created her shot and got it off whenever she wanted. Range, mid to long-range, has always been there but it’s gotten deeper and deeper
Sahara Jones 6’1 F (Proskills 17U EYBL) long and athletic, she attacks hard and finishes harder but she also showed a step back which was consistent from midrange, played the passing lane, and has very good timing to alter or block shots
Achlie Brown PG (HCA Girls 2020) strong and athletic, she was one of the more physical guards at the event which also showed on defense as well as attacking the basket. Her pull-up was effective and she rebounded
HAILEY SMITH
Hailey Smith 5’6 PG (Austin Elite Supergirls 17U) one of those “keep coming at you” players and I’m talking both ends. Throwback mentally of diving after loose balls or either coaches arms watching the action, she threads the needle as good as any and can score off the dribble or mid to long-range
Zuniga Nelson 6”0 SG (BTR 17U) good size as she can post up smaller guards easily and not only can she elevate on her jumper which is accurate from just about everywhere on the court, that spin move and pull-up was on
Shay Holle 6’0 SF (Cy Fair Elite 17U EYBL) first really good look at her, knew she could play but in front of probably 50 college coaches, she took it to another level. Catch and shoot players with her size are a hot commodity for the next level and she nails the long ball with ease
Quierra Love 5’4 PG ( Missouri Phenom 17U EYBL) one of the fastest players with the ball at the event that stayed under control. She makes things happen as she blows by defenders and dishes the ball off multiple ways for assists. That handle and court vision can’t be taught
Brittney Fields 6’2 P (DFW Elite Texoma) size Matthews when you know how to use it and when you throw her frame, hands, and footwork together, not to mention she finishes and battles for everything on both ends, oh yeah, she finishes consistently
Madison Cleary 5’10 SG (Cy Fair 17U Platinum ) need a long-ball threat, look no further is what I wrote about her 4 or 5 years ago, and guess what? I was right but she can mix it up as she creates off the dribble well but she also dropped eight from bta, in a half
Sydney Bowen PG (Cy Fair Elite 17U Platinum (O’Bryant) always impressed me with her energy and effort because she has that “you won’t outwork me” attitude. Attacks basket strongly, pressure defense baseline to baseline and can score from outside
ELAUNA EATON
Elauna Eaton 6’0 SG (DFW Elite 17U EYBL) if I wanted an offensive show, she definitely gave me one of the best performances of the event. She creates, attacks, or just elevates over defenders with unlimited range and as a bonus, she defends well
Molly Kaiser 5’8 OG (Nike Texas Select) creates plenty of buzz as an unknown that could play D1. Her pull-up was one of the best at the event and that’s mid to long range or she attaches and finishes after contact. Never takes a playoff , defends, and just brings it
VALERIE PANUCO
2021
Haley Allen 5’7 SG (DFW Elite 16U EYBL) speedy guard that attacks the basket and showed a nice mid to long-range game. Handles the ball in traffic and defends, energy level stays high
Krysta McAllister 5’8 SG ( Missouri Phenom 17U Swoosh) when you drop 8 threes in a game, I’m especially impressed at the way she dropped them but just to be safe, I caught her again for another long ball exhibition
Amillion Fowler 5’7 SG ( Houston Dream Red) she plays bigger than her size, she is ultra-athletic and just showed me even more as she was a vocal leader throughout the event and her energy trickles over. She elevates over defenders, body control second to none, one of the most underrated players in her class
TIANNA MATHIS
Tianna Mathis 5’7 PG ( Lady Thunder) this young lady is a highlight waiting to happen, body control second to none, she attacks basket at will, and her grace after taking the lick, is a hit, hopefully, you caught that. Nice outside game, rebounds and defends
Valerie Panuco 5’6 SG ( Lady Wolfpack) been watching her for three years and the work she has out in hasn’t gone unnoticed. More of a defend and attack player early, her outside game has definitely come around as well as her energy which trickles over to her teammates
Kate Valle 5’11 G ( Proskills 16U National) caught her from another court shooting a couple of feet from mid-court and that it was a mirage. The next game, it was a barrage of baskets from deep, she’s long and the shot is hard to defend plus she puts on the floor well to create options. Also has numerous 4 point opportunities
BREANNA DAVIS
2022
Iyanna Robertson 5’5 PG ( Cy Fair Elite 16U EYBL) solid point guard play is always a treat for me, especially when you have speed and can handle the ball going full blast because that gets easy baskets in transaction. She attacks strongly and shoots the three
Kelliah Walker 5’7 SG (Drive Nation 16U Randle/Jet) every year for the past four seasons, she keeps progressing and showing me something different but I already knew she score and handle the ball, her poise especially under pressure told me a lot
Justaisha Holmes-5’6 SG (Houston Dream Blue) I love speedy guards, they can create problems, especially when they’re under control but not only is she fast, she’s fast with the ball and gets to the rim easily
Ashley Carrillo 5’5 PG (KS Gameball) heady point guard that understands how to run a squad yet she can create problems with the long ball as she shot it accurately and efficiently
Breanna Davis 5’8 PG ( Lady Drive Nation 16U EYBL) one of the countless players I called #D1Lock after a few minutes, this was 3 or 4 years ago and her progression only adds fuel to the fire. Mid to long-range, off the dribble and she understands how to control the tempo and gets teammates involved
Kyla Deck 5’8 G ( Proskills 16U EYBL) blue-collar mentality, she’s on the floor, defends baseline to baseline, battles taller players for rebounds by getting position, and plays the passing lane quite well. She’s athletic and attacks but her mentality is to battle for everything
Christine Imuala 6’3 PF (SA Finest Cee Lou) her upside is intriguing, her body and strength combined with her desire have my eyes wide open. She battled on the inside and on the boards
Carleigh Wenzel 6’0 G (SA Finest Dungee) what can I say other than “that stoke” ain’t no joke. Picture perfect jumper, releases at the right time, creates well under pressure, I’ve said that for years but she’s a gamer, wants ball when it counts and delivers over and over
GRACE SLAUGHTER
2023
Crislyn Rose 5’6 SG ( Aladdin Drive Nation Duncan 2023) left me speechless over and over, one of the best incoming freshmen in state, she’s poised, under control, and disregards pressure because she relishes it. Sees the floor extremely well, scored off the dribble or outside
Jada Williams 5’7 PG (Missouri Phenom 16U EYBL) nowhere near the finished product which is scary since she has BCS offers on the table as she is about to enter high school. She plays smart and within herself but at the blink of an eye, she has double digits and when you can take over or get it in the flow, that’s huge
Grace Slaughter 6’1 SG ( Missouri Phenom Topeka) what can’t she do would be easier to write so I guess dunk the ball but who knows. She is a nightmare to defend is what I wrote when she was on another squad a while back but she’s even scarier because inside-outside, whatever, she can fill it up
Angel Tumbarello 5’4 G ( SA Finest KI Will) talk about getting in the groove, watching her let it fly after a couple of minutes shoot the long ball showed me two things, it was going in or it was in and out because it’s in the vicinity. The bonus is that she can “ catch and shoot” it accurately and this age ….
Chelsy Singleton 5’6 PG (Cy Fair Elite 16U Gold Johnson) good body, she’s physical and I’m talking on offense and defense but she pushes the ball nicely in transition, in fact, she can rebound and start the break. Attacks the rim and sees the floor, both well
2024
Kendall Robinson 5’7 PG (Texas Savage 14U) let me put this out there, again, she’s one of the top 2024 players in the country and that’s without me seeing a ton of them because of two things, I’m that good and she’s that good. She changed hands in mid-air going full speed, her crossover, ability to attack and finish with contact is ahead of her years plus she can the outside shot, rebound, and defend
