2019 Houston Summer Slam Tip Sheet

'19 Slam 1

’23 BRANDY “#BCSLock” JONES

CYPRESS, TEXAS- The INNAGURAL Houston Summer Slam was a slam dunk in my honest opinion because it gave me a look at several new players, capable of playing at the next level as well as many that I already said that were headed that way. I never count anyone out, several are on the verge whom I’ve already seen and one thing I look for is progression. To do my job efficiently, cooperation and comprehension is important and vital because if I don’t know who said player is, how am I going to write about them, I mean I was in MENSA but I was also kicked out so thanks to those who took their time to send rosters out to not make me waste time asking for them. I’ll be dropping more players on Twitter as I go through the pics, I’ll also drop something on BIAH and Texas Savage squads on my blog a little later, Savage ain’t even played HS ball yet, but are LOADED, so here were some of the many standouts

'19 Slam Lombard

DESTINI LOMBARD

SUPER POOL DIVISION

2020

Lauryn Small-guard (HTX Fire 2020) talented on both ends. Always been impressed with effort but her ability to attack and finish with contact plus that midrange combined with rebounding on both ends is always nice to see

Destini Lombard-guard/forward (Texas Elite Stars 2020) watching her glide as a freshman was a sight to see and now, she not only glides but hangs and with her length, she finishes easily and on defense, she alters shots or just blocks them and ignite the break herself with overly impressive speed

Bobiana Hill-guard (Texas Phenoms Black) athletic, goes hard baseline to baseline, loves to defend, dives on the floor after loose balls and attacks the rim relentlessly over and over. Nice pull-up in traffic

Tiffany Tullis-forward (BIAH Black) first impressions that impress me are great and she’s one of those players I speak about when I drop the #talentiseverywhere on you and not only is she at the magic number of 6’0, athletic and just gets after it, she can score multiple ways

Makalah Robinson-guard (Urban Heroes Ross) explosive first step caught my eye pre-MS and her athleticism and ability to finish with contact is something to see. Creates her own shot in traffic, stop and pop in transition

'19 Slam Amillion

AMILLION FOWLER

2021

Amillion Fowler-guard (houston Dream Elite) defying gravity is nothing new for this young lady who simply left me speechless last season however I’m talking and typing because she can change the momentum of a game just like that, she fills up the stat sheet and is hard to contain offensively

Dala Allen-post (Texas Elite Stars 2021 Burroughs) this young lady has been putting in work, talk about progression over the years, at times she just takes over in the paint. Strong body, finishes with players hanging on her and rebounded well throughout event

2022

Dai Dai Powell-forward (Skyrise Mike) long, athletic, gets wherever she wants whenever she wanrts but her size makes her a mismatch waiting to happen as she effortlessly drops the long ball or can create in traffic for the midrange but don’t get it twisted, she has unlimited upside remaining

Aaliya Collins-guard (Cy Fair Premier Black) if you just watched her, you’d never know she just completed her freshman season but I’m impressed with her growth, she’s under control yet is getting hers in the flow or just taking over

OTHER STANDOUTS

Yumen Simien 2019 (Houston Hoops)

Raven Adams (Texas Elite Stars 2021 Burroughs)

Myra Bell (BIAH Black)

TK Busby (Urban Heroes Ross)

Jadyn Dunn (Texas Elite Stars 2020)

'19 Slam

KIMBERLY DUHON

COMPETITIVE DIVISION

2020

Taylor Stermon-post (CTX) finishes strong, with contact and battles for everything in the paint

Niyah Johnson -guard (BIAH White) one of the most athletic finishers at the Houston Summer Slam, she doesn’t mind contact and was an and one waiting to happen. Strong body, plays hard

2021

Trinity Valentine-forward (Texas 832) as impressed with her as I was a couple of months ago, I was taken away at her progression as she battles in the paint, finishes strong and rebounds on both ends

2022

Kimberly Duhon-guard (Lady East Elite) I also use another hashtag #sizedontmatter when you can play and she plays taller and stronger than she is. She has ups, nice mid to long range jumper and attacks well

Amanda Crowninshield (Texas Elite 2022 Silver) I’ve always loved her BB-IQ, when you’re young and poised and understand the game, big things are coming and not only does she know how to run a squad, she can take things over offensively when needed

Isabel Montavo-guard (SA Finest) strong body, creates well, mid to long range consistent but her frame and knack for getting to the basket enables her to finish strongly after the lick

Endiyah Lundy-guard (Houston Elite Gold) that same hashtag applies to Lundy, she has a first step that can be devastating at times and it enables her to pick and choose how she wants to come at you, off the dribble or from the outside, she knows how to put the ball in the basket

Belecia Martinez-guard (BIAH Red) they call her Bell as in ring my and she knows how to make noise. I love her “poise under pressure” because she wants the ball in her hands during crunch time and unlike me letter carrier, she delivers on time

Kenna Gibson-guard (HTX Fire 2022) handles ball under pressure nicely, knows how to create her own shot in traffic but even more importantly she nails it, mid to long range and consistently

2023

Brandy Jones-guard (Texas Savage) a whole lot of talent on this squad and she was one of the premier players in the event and hasn’t played a minute of high school. That step back 3 should have been on The Gram but let me send a telegram #BCSLock, throw away the key

Elizabeth Walton-guard (Texas Elite Stars 2022 Bibbs) she knows how to turn it on and by it, I mean score in droves and that includes driving. Nice pull-up, she already gets it and is also giving it on both ends

Madison Williams-guard (Texas Elite 2022 White) surprised me every time I saw her as she showed me something different including passion for the game at both ends. She brings heat, scored and defended and I love the upside
