2018 Summer Elite Showcase

JASMINE SHAVERS

THE MAC, Texas- It’s always great to see players that I caught at a young age I knew would play ball in college continue to elevate their games and just take it to another stratosphere like Jordyn Oliver and Jaden Owens who are heading into their senior years in high school but they are only a couple and as I constantly explain, it’s always good to see progression and by that I’m not only talking about playing the game, but thinking the game as well and catching Prime Time Basketball’s Summer Elite Showcase, a constant flow of talented players were on every court all day Saturday and here’s some of the standouts I personally saw and with that being said, I’m dropping something on the whole NTX Tarheels squad as the talented young ladies are only heading into high school but sent several messages

ENDIYA ROGERS

2019

Endiya Rogers-guard (DFW Elite 17U EYBL) explosive off the dribble, attacks relentlessly from everywhere on the floor, can score mid to long range, handles ball under pressure and sees the floor sort of sums it however she also defends well and her athleticism just makes her electrifying at times

Jadyn Byrd-post (Team Premier) okay she’s 6’4 and will be a better college player that high school because of her upside and size not to mention strong body which at times can be overpowering. Rebounds on both ends and showed she could score opening up one game with teams first 6 points. 76 INCHES !!!!

Amanda Withey-forward (DFW Hawks) no notes needed, she just did a little bit of everything very good. Midrange was clicking, she’s 6’0 and long, plus she was attacking and finishing against some tough competition. Rebounded on both ends, dove on the floor, even in the stands

Eternity Jackson- guard (Nike Texas Select) at one point, the trailer for Pleasantville flashed in my head because threes seemed to be dropping from everywhere. Takes defenders off dribble and flips the script and brings heat on defense

Shuntorri Rodgers-guard (Southern Krushers Academy) long and athletic is always intriguing so when you add under control and bringing heat, that’s a good sign so watching her attack the basket over and over and relish the contact, playing the passing lane and defending shows a variety of her skills and she’s 6’0, the magic number

TAYLEN COLLINS

2020

De’Mya Young-guard (MP Elite Ice) talk about taking game to another level, scores from the outside, mid to long range as well as inside where she can elevate over players so when you add body control and hang time, she’s pretty hard to contain not to mention she plays passing lane and defends baseline to baseline

Avyn Bell-forward (Urban DFW Elite Black) over the magic number of 6’0 and athletic will almost always get you somewhere at the next level but her ability to elevate and her timing are bonuses as well as scoring and rebounding

Taylen Collins-forward (Banshees Elite 17U) one of the best first steps I’ve seen this season, and that, as well as her being long and over 6’0, gives you an idea so combine that with explosiveness as she plays around the rim for easy baskets, can hit the outside shot, defends and plays the passing lane and with her speed that’s am ball handling , that’s almost an automatic lay-up going the other way

AALIYAH MOORE

2021

Jasmine Shavers-guard (DFW Elite 16U EYBL) I loved her game when she was 5 inches shorter but now a shade or two under the magic number sort of gives a clue on why she has BCS offers on the table. Quick release from anywhere on the court, creates her shot, takes defenders off the dribble makes her hard to handle

Addy Hoffman-guard (3T-OK) when I get impressed from afar, I usually move around and this young lady had me leave one side of the gym to head to another just to make certain. Creates her shot and nails it from everywhere or she can take defenders off dribble but she loves pressure and handles it

Aaliyah Moore-forward (Cy Fair Elite EYBL) never takes a play-off kind of player at 6’2 that can face the basket and nail the midrange, attack from every angle or just score in the paint. Defends the length of the court, can ignite and finish break plus she rebounds on both ends

Sanaa Murphy-Showers (DC Queens Glover) creates her shot under pressure and showed range, mid to long, plus saw the floor and played the passing lane. High energy and showing signs of taking to yet another level

Amber Williams-guard (SWAG Elite Red) strong body, physical on both ends, rebounds, that’s something I saw years ago as well as hitting the outside shot. New takeaway is she creates her shot in traffic and takes defenders off dribble and can finish strong after the lick

Jayda Whitley-guard (Oklahoma Lady Thunder) powerful on both ends, either going to the basket or bring heat on defense and when you have players that just play hard and under control, that usually trickles down because she makes things happen. Factor in she can score from outside to keep defenders guessing is a big plus

Zaria Rufus-forward (DFW Elite 15U) “jumps out of the gym” caught my attention from the other side, slices nicely from the wing to finish OVER defenders but also showed she could defend inside or baseline to baseline, plenty of upside

2022

Tionna Herron-forward/post (NTX Tarheels) seems like I’ve been watching her and teammates forever as they are only entering HS and that’s why they’ll get their own story but Herron’s story is she’s long and 6’3, can score facing the basket or inside the paint, block, deflect, alter, whatever, handle the ball C2C for easy baskets and defend and the irony is, she has room to take it even higher, and she will

Keliah Walker-guard (Lady Drive Nation Nike 2022 Topping) nowhere near the finished product as she enters high school however her poise and ability to run a team speaks volumes and when she handled the heat that was thrown at her over the weekend, turn the volume higher
