MACKENZIE WILSON attacking

ST LOUIS, MISSOURI- On a day when the weather truly began to change in St Louis, the heat I saw from the middle school players brightened my morning up as several new faces showed that they were more than ready to be placed on that next level radar. With the exception of a couple, I had never seen any of these other potential young stars of the future but many left me with a lasting impression and one thing I love to see is progression, at any level, so I will be watching for that but it also ties into another thing I continuously say, talent is everywhere so keep working on your game because someone else is but here’s the Tip Sheet

2022

Triniti Matthews- 5’8 forward (Missouri Phenoms) long , athletic, handles the ball and sees the floor but she has a knack for getting not only to the rim but finishing strong after contact

Madison Belge- 5’9 forward (Indian Blizzard) breezed through skill set and caught my eye even before the games because she just plays so hard on every play. You can’t teach desire and the heat she showed on defense was among the best on the day

Nakiyah Westbrook-5’2 PG (Memphis War Eagles) right last name, she has range attacks and sees floor, rebounds is athletic and just plays hard all the time but that EURO and ability to get wherever she wants was on, well POINT

Sydney Reddin-5’7 guard (St Louis Eagles) strong body and stayed ready to attack the basket but some players just have a way of being at the right place at the right time, she’s one of them because she’s always around the ball

Mackenzie Wilson-5’4 guard (Phenoms) athletic with range is sort of selling her game short because it’s one thing to be able to shoot but when you can catch and shoot as quickly and accurately as she can, those are bug pluses

BROOKLYN RHODES driving to the basket

2023

Abigail Peterson- 5’5 guard (Players First) skill set or in the game, it didn’t matter as she showed me she knew how to create her shot in tight situations but what she also showed was range, from all over the court

Laney Humble-5’3 guard (Willpower Phenom) Kendrick would be proud of her being Humble as her array of bombs from all over the floor, ability to get to the rim and just score in the flow plus she gets it

Kayla Sullivan- 5’8 PG (ST Louis Eagles) it’s always good to be physical, giving and taking, but I’m talking under control and her strong frame enables her to absorb contact and finish after attacking rim, high BB-IQ plus she sees floor very well

Savannah Orgeron- 5’8 post (Aristocrats) range for her size is good, that along with a strong body enables her to mix it up and she can run the floor, handle the ball and see the floor

Durbin Thomas- 5’0 PG (Aristocrats) when I say heady, it ties in with acronym BB-IQ and it’s always good to comprehend certain things at a young age, she does because she makes plays and sets up teammates nicely

Addy McCleod- 5’2 PG (Illinois Aristocrats) what’s that saying, size don’t matter when you can play and that she can as she shot the long ball extremely well and also took defenders off the dribble, fierce competitor

Da’Nyah Hall-5’3 PG- very athletic and fast, well fast with the ball and her first step can be devastating but on top of that, she loves to defend

Brooklyn Rhodes-5’11 forward (Missouri Phenoms) scary ability already as she’s long and alters shots not to mention rebounds well on both ends but two really huge things are she can handle the ball under pressure and hit the midrange as well as attack, okay that’s three and she can shoot that too

Cami Stacker- 5’3 guard (Phenom 2023) heady guard that knows how to create for herself and teammates, huge at this stage, but seeing the floor and getting to the basket for buckets was nicely done

Raven Addison-5’6 forward (STL Phenoms) good athleticism, plays strong defense but is a shifty ball handler that knows how to get by defense as well as thread the needle to teammates for baskets

T’kiyah Nelson 5’5 PG (STL Phenoms) very good athleticism is always a plus, especially when you’re under control but her timing, ability to handle the ball and one of the best spin moves I’ve seen this summer, well all that and the three ball

'18 PTB Super60STL breona

BREONA “I” HURD THAT, well I saw it too

2024

Alexis Matthews- 5’3 guard (Players First) her performance was one of those times where I had to take a double and triple look because at her size, she got an abundance of rebounds but that’s due to comprehension and desire, plus she can score

Breona Hurd-5’11 POST (Willpower) well I’m sort of at a loss for words but “I HURD THAT” sums up what’s coming. Actually I’m never at a loss, she has size, long and athletic, with a strong body already. She’s physical, finishes strong and when she hit the long ball, all bets are off on where she lands

Kori Alcorn- 5’2 guard (Players First) whizzed through the skills and drills session but when you can create your shot at this age, that gives you a jump but the nailing the midrange like she did gives her a higher one

Emily Recker-guard – talk about upside, I guess her not backing down and just competing during the skill set caught my eye when I noticed her age but that midrange and attacking the basket during the games tells me she’s on to something

Vanessa Bickford-5’8 PG (360 Lady Select) she’s ahead of the game, good BB-IQ, can create and sees the floor, already but getting to the rim and finishing multiple ways, including the floater was just something to see
