2017 U of H Camp recap
TATYANA HILL
HOUSTON, Texas- I definitely had a blast as I stopped by the University of Houston Elite Camp for a couple of hours before I headed up to Round Rock for the Tyrone Johnson Showcase weekend before last. Several standouts were on hand including 2018 Tatyana Hill who has already committed to the Cougars. Hill is one of the most improved players in the state over the past two seasons and her work ethic on the inside is second to none but when you talk about putting in work, that foursome from DFW Elite Dallas of Bria Patterson, Angelique Francis, Jakayla Bowie and Sydney McHenry simply brought it. Patterson exceeded expectations while Francis simply explodes off the ground elevating over everyone. Another bright spot was Zaria Johnson from DFW Houston who is showing me something extra three weeks in a row while another DFW Houston product, Jada Malone has yet to play her first high school game but the 6’3 player has already shown several attributes defensively it’s that nightmare to defend she’s becoming which is leaving me speechless
JADA MALONE
The Truong twins, 2019 Kayleigh and Kaylinne, were leaving me speechless in the 6th grade and of course nothing has changed as their BB- IQ and talent is second to none while Daijonae McCarthy showed she could do a lot more than score as she facilitated to teammates setting them up while bringing heat on defense. Taylor Thomas and Taeylin Grays are a couple of more talented guards I’ve been writing about since middle school that performed well while Brittany Onyeje continues to amaze me with her all-around game. Tylyer Collins came down from Georgia, talented guard that caught my eye in the 7th grade hasn’t missed a beat while youngsters like ’21 Asia Broughton who has expanded her game, 6’1 and shooting the long ball effortlessly and more important accurately, has definitely become more than a back to the basket player. Rori Harmon, Raven Adams and R’Mani Taylor are also a couple of young guards who will become household names once they get to HS when everyone will be “amazed” at what they can do but remember, like always, I said it years ago and I’m never wrong about “playas”
