2017 Iron Sharpens Iron HS Tip Sheet session 1
AAILYAH MORGAN defending MIYA CRUMP
GLENN HEIGHTS, Texas- The action heated up even more in the HS division at Iron Sharpens Iron. In the first HS session, I caught just about everyone so here are a few that stood out while I had an opportunity to see them however everyone I saw will be mentioned on Instagram and (or) Twitter so follow me or you may miss something and let me say this, when I use the search bar on my blog and website and read what I said about many of these players as long as five years ago, I realize just how good I am at evaluating talent
2018
Miya Crump- guard/wing (Houston Hoops) I said she does things effortlessly but I’m still mesmerized at her ability. She can simply take over games in the flow, that in itself is just special and with her length, she gets shots off with ease and is a tough defender
2019
Madison Lucas-guard (Houston Hoops) athletic guard, attacks basket and finishes strong, nice step back, that includes dropping the three
2020
Chelsea Wooten-PG (Cy Fair Shooters) point guard that can score doesn’t sum it up. Mid or long range, coast to coast, under pressure, and finishing with contact numerous times but her “ups” and athleticism kept my eyes glued on her
Asha Thompson-forward-at almost six feet (the magic number) it always helps when you can face the basket and score, \from mid and long range however her athleticism and her ability to catch and shoot accurately are huge assets
Camryn Hill-forward (Pro Skills) showed me a lot of different things on both ends in the paint. Good size and strength, finished strong and also rebounded well both on offensie and defense
Hannah Guster-post (Pro Skills) she’s 6’4!!!!! Now that I have your attention, being that size at this age and doing some of the little things she does well gives her a definite edge. HUGE upside and could be a terror before its all said and done
Daisha McMillan-forward (Higher Goals) defense is a lost art sometimes however McMillan definitely enjoys it. She’s grown a little since the last time I saw her but at just under “the magic number” that ability to face the basket and score is there
Jewel Spear-PG-athletic guard that finds ways to get out of traps, gets to the rim with ease, sees floor but her ability to create under pressure and drop the midrange is superseded by that long range which is pretty accurate
Rayna Ross-guard (Pro Skills) handles the ball under pressure, athleticism enables her to make some tough shots all over the court, first step keeps defenders leaning, attacks basket well and finishes with contact, nice step back
Aailyah Morgan-post (Cy Fair Shooters) at 6’1, she already shows good hands and footwork while also being able to face the basket and score. Soft touch, tough rebounder on both ends, strong body
Kenzi Carter-forward-she’s already at that magic number of 6’0 which assures college coaches will be looking. Her offensive moves, ability to create her shot and her midrange will keep them looking, still has upside
Tommisha Lampkin-forward/post –size and intensity always has and will get you a free ride to school. She’s 6’2 and goes after everything on both ends, she runs the floor and her athleticism shows as she goes coast to coast with the ball
Isabel Montoya-PG– understands the game, doesn’t get flustered by pressure, in fact relishes it. Knows how to run a team, sees floor and handles ball but she also can knock down the long ball
