2016 Prime Time Tune Up Tip Sheet

2016 PT Kate Petrovic

KATE PETROVIC

HOUSTON, Texas- As teams continued to tune up for a very hot July of action, II spent day 2 at Prime Time event focusing on some teams and players I hadn’t seen in a while or period, that’s something I say a lot because it’s something I do, I love progression and talent is EVERYWHERE. Texas Elite BCS Haby was definitely a pleasant surprise as well as a new mix of Skyrise players I hadn’t seen all season plus Katy Rebels Poth with a variety of next level players I hadn’t seen in at least two years but this was a solid event and that mix kept be busy all day Sunday

Jenna Caskey (Katy Warriors) how can I say this, scored multiple ways, put team on her back, set defenders up and was simply clutch throughout a double overtime thriller. Off the dribble going coast to coast, shoots mid and long range and was just about automatic from free throw line

Denecia Washington (Team ROC) another clutch effort  and as I made it in time to see her score a few baskets during the last two minutes and a runner that sent it into OT against Warriors. Athletic guard that could score and defend

Kacie Washington (Triple Threat) explosive point guard that hurt ankle on day one, makes team go by scoring and setting teammates up for baskets. To top that off, she plays D and remember the game starts at the one

Kate Petrovic (Skyrise) big guard that can shoot, wait, big guard that can score. She has range and I meed deep range plus she can create her shot and make thing happen either with the midrange pull-up or attacking the basket

2016 PT Emily Nelson

EMILY NELSON

Emily Nelson ( 3220 Elite) knows how to put the ball in the basket and play both ends. The pull-up with defenders hanging on her was refreshing to see as well as the contact she showed she could take while finishing

Tra’ Dayja Smith (Texas Elite Haby) she is a perfect example on why I try and see as many players as possible. She has speed, with the ball, is under control and simply sets her teammates up for easy baskets. Those no looks and wrap around passes were very impressive as well as her ability to score when needed and she can hit the long ball

Alicia Blanton(Katy Rebels Poth)  to be honest the whole starting five was up for the Tip Sheet until Blanton leaped out of bounds and one motion threw the ball 15 feet for an assist. Athleticism is through the roof, good body control and the ability to get wherever she wants and finish. Midrange looks better and better

Kendall Bullard (Houston Premier Orange) great skills to go with length, kept ball high, finished multiple ways and rebounded on both ends. Showed she could defend inside and on perimeter and also did a god jog of facing the basket and scoring on the jumper

2016 PT Shannon Whithead

SHANON WHITHEAD

Shanon Whithead (SETX Power Elite) every week it’s a new player from this team, well every tournament but when you factor in the vast majority hasn’t played their first high school game, it’s crazy. Whithead never takes a play off and just bring it on both ends. Her first step is deceptive and when you figure it out she gone plus she can shoot the ball

Taylor Jackson (Katy Rebels Lauritano) size and strength are there, so is desire and with some time, she could be a household name. She’s 6’2, just started playing and only entering 8th grade. Showed she could rebound strong and finish on both ends but got low and picked a guard clean did it for me
