2016 Prime Time SW Regional HS Tip Sheet
ZAIRE BANKS (SKYRISE)
Prime Time Sports Southwest Regional had me going from sunup to sundown on both days as the sun is about to go down on the day after, I realized that it was just too many players to fit on one Tip Sheet, well too many players that caught my eye for the first time, players that have shown progression or players that did something to blow me away so I’ll separate divisions starting with players that participated in the 9th-12th grade HS Divisions. Keep in mind I’ll have mini-stories on some of the teams on my BLOG and if you aren’t following me on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, all under Girlz Prep report, you just might miss something
2016
Raven Brown ( Yellow Jackets) I always knew she was explosive and basically got to the rim effortlessly however the long ball shooting exhibition on day one definitely landed her on here as several of her teammates were in the running. Speaking of running, she did a good job at pushing the ball and controlling the tempo
2018
ShaKayla Burns (ASA) not the same TWELVE groups I’ve been watching forever however this new mix of players has them as competitive as ever. Burns is summed up simply as “power in the paint” where she’s hard to handle. Physicality is something she relishes and at times can be overpowering
Sara Pareja (SWAG Elite Gold) I could’ve chosen any of their starting five and since they won it, I’ll come back to them but Pareja’s desire to rebound and score keeps making me smile. She’s a tad over 5’10 but plays over 6’0 and as in old school terminology, “she simply gets the job done”
2019
Vianey Galvan (HTX 2019) has always been able to drop the long ball however her ability to create her shot under pressure, be it long ball or taking defenders off the dribble for the midrange or attacking the basket has definitely added to her offensive ability
Zaire Banks (Skyrise) she was a guest player on this talented squad and falls in that “I’m glad I finally saw her category” because she simply has “it”. I love players that can put up numbers in the flow and she definitely utilizes her athletic ability to fill up a stat sheet while being unselfish
Bren’ Naisa Alexis Adams (LA Superballers) so many times I hear people comparing players to the great Danielle Adams but trust, there ain’t none but watching this young lady who has the same last name definitely shows some similarities. Hands, footwork and ability to finish plus rebounds on both ends sort of puts it in perspective and the icing on the cake was a 40 point performance in the championship game of the 9th grade division in which they won. BEYONCE HENRY (BLUE CHIPS) & HANNAH HAWKINS (HTX 2020)
2020
Hannah Hawkins (HTX 2020) I always knew she could shoot and over the weekend she showed me exactly how right I was. It’s not the fact that she was dropping the long ball accurately, it’s her ability to catch and shoot has picked up
Tierney Coleman (AHE) initially I thought she was an 2018 or 2019 I hadn’t seen but was a legitimate D1 player at some level but after looking at the roster, I was simply blown away. She scored every way imaginable; she defends baseline to baseline and plays the lanes. That stop on a dime pull-up from 10-15 feet is definitely something to see but her athleticism, BB-IQ and skill set at this stage has huge things ahead
Jada Argumon (SETX 2019) another talented young player on a team of talented players but it’s her turn for the Tip Sheet. The floated sold me, yeah I’ve seen her knock the long one down and split defender for the pull-up but adding this to her arsenal will take her a long way
2021
Beyonce Henry (Blue Chips) she did a good job inside playing up, strong and solid, rebounds well and can finish but the disparity in the years she was playing simply didn’t faze her as she battled for everything
Sabrina Balderaz (HTX Fire 2021) did a good job dropping mid and long range shots consistently and under pressure. When you can shoot the midrange like she’s showing at this stage, that’s a lost art and big plus
