2016 Prime Time Nationals #PTNBC16
QUATINA THOMAS
DALLAS, Texas- Another year of club ball is winding down so that means another fantastic Prime Time Nationals has the Metroplex and surrounding areas rocking. With over 830 teams on both sides, Prime Time has given me a look at countless future college players which has included those who have played on the USA teams and made McDonald’s All American squads but when I first started covering the event, I started hash tagging talent is everywhere and it certainly is if two things happen, one, you take the time to look for it and two, you actually know what you’re looking at. Over a year ago, my ex-wife became paralyzed and Jim Johnson filled in for me to cover last year’s event. My ex has made a tremendous amount of improvement however and I’m certain that I will be in attendance so let me thank Mr. Johnson for once again keeping the ball rolling, pun intended. Here are some of the bright young stars he caught in pool play
Vakura Meabon
This Arkansas Starz Elite 2019 can knock down a 3. Guard too close and she drives right by you. Good size for a 2/3 and is strong. Will be fun to watch develop over the next 3 years.
Veronica Body
This Jonesboro area member of the 9th grade Arkansas Starz Elite 2019 is very aggressive defender, rebounder and has a knack of getting to the FT line. She has a lot of good qualities for a early HS player and one to keep an eye on.
Quatina Thomas
She’s always around the ball, active at both ends of the floor and rebounds at both ends plus very unselfish with the ball. She doesn’t need to score to have an impact on the game and gives NTX a good chance to make it to the 9th grade final four.
Breanna Jackson
Need a scorer? This 10th grade 2 guard will get you 20 and the Wichita, Kansas player is very smooth. Can knockdown the jumper or drive to the basket. Must contain her to beat Lady Oz Elite.
Jamia Jackson
Jackson is another Lady Oz standout. She’s an active player that doesn’t mind sticking her nose in tough places. Rebounds and dives for loose balls. Will give you consistent double digit scoring.
Jerica Bell
Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Team Matrix have one of my favorite 10th grade players. She reminds me of former Phoenix Mercury and Former Sparks coach Jennifer Gillom. Once she has you on her hip and they get the ball to her, she is scoring, going to the line, or grabbing her own rebound and putting it back up. That’s how hard she works. Dropped 20 and 24 her first 2 games while not playing heavy minutes.
Brooke Fuller
Team Matrix post will clean the boards and defend plus is a perfect teammate for Jerica Bell. She gives the Matrix a second scoring option in the post. And got to love the double doubles she racks up. Solid 6′ plus strong body.
Nya Moody
Nya is athletic and plays well with or without the ball. Her length makes her active on defense. Solid rebounder that fills her role. Doesn’t need to score but can. Mid range jumper or filling the lane. Solid 2/3.
