2016 Houston Elite Memorial Day Classic

2017 Josie Larson

JOSIE LARSON (HOYAS)

HOUSON, Texas-  The Zone was pumping this weekend and I had memories of yesteryear running into teams that were around when my daughters first got involved right around the turn of the century. MP Elite, The Houstonians and host team Houston Elite list of former players read like a who’s who and it was great catching up with not only them but several familiar teams and faces. The Phenoms finally received the notoriety they deserved last season, of course I gave it to them four years earlier and them along with Houston Dream and DFW Elite are all rolling pretty strong as well as  Skyrise Bluestar. My intentions were to only be there Sunday however I had to check out South Texas Hoyas who always seem to surprise me with a new face ad once again, they did

2017

Anastasia Mickens (GTE) watching her work was a breath of fresh air as she simply gets after it. Athleticism through the roof, she can be overpowering inside and has a nice touch facing the basket

Eneily Rodriguez (Houston Dream) the phrase “never takes a play off”  definitely applies to this young lady who can bang on the inside or score from outside. The thing I like even more is that she plays within herself

Josie Larson (Hoyas) weekend surprise was watching her: in the open court she was definitely hard to handle and I guess her ability to create under pressure kind of blew me away. Midrange was definitely a plus

2018 NyAsia Goldman

 NYASIA GOLDMAN

2018

Taelin Grays (DFW Elite Houston) talented guard that knows how to score,  finishes well with contact, defends and rebounds and has consistently been a pressure player, look for archived story on Twitter

NyAsia Goldman (Houstonians) the moment I saw her as a freshman I knew she would be someone I needed to keep my eyes on and even though her speed makes that hard at times, her passion for the game as well as her skill set makes her a force on both ends of the floor

Dari Gabriel (Houston Elite) I love watching progression in players and I’ve been seeing this young lady since elementary school. Spin moves under pressure while finishing definitely gets me looking, range, mid and long were definitely on point this weekend

Mikayla Capone (Bluestar) blew me away at Dekaney on JV team however the wind was stronger this go round. She’s so explosive, plays the passing lanes and dives on the floor for loose balls but her ability to score multiple ways was definitely a plus

Amaya Armstrong (Phenoms) I just mentioned “spin under pressure” but when you add behind the back in the same motion while draining the midrange……  She plays hard, all the time, she’s physical, has a strong body and can do two things well, score and defend

2020

Demaya  Young (MP Elite) long and athletic, her upside is so huge that she has BCS in the future. Playing her age, she dominated; playing two years up, her presence was felt in many ways which also how she scores, many ways

Trinity Curry (Fort Bend Stars) the finished product is no way here however she’s around 6’5 and peep this, has a college ready body before high school. Athletic and coordinated, huge upside and a bright future is in her story
