2015 Insiders Hoopfest WNBA Blue Tip Sheet
JASMYNE HARRIS (TEXAS ELITE PHENOMS)
HOUSTON, Texas- Once again, another successful Houston Insiders Hoopfest closed with a couple of things, exciting teams and dramatic performances from talented players throughout the divisions and when you look at the fact that I actually had a chance to evaluate close to 500 players, it’s safe to assume that not only were there a good number of next level locks but plenty of players that show enough potential to make me say that and I’m talking about players as young as sixth graders. I’ll drop Tip Sheets from both WNBA Divisions today and I’ll have mini stories on each of the 18 teams. Here are nine standouts from the BLUE starting out with tournament MVP Jasmyne Harris
2016
Jasmyne Harris-guard (Texas Elite Phenoms) is it the athleticism that’s so intriguing to me, after all she can almost dunk at 5’9 or is the acrobatics I also enjoy as she defies gravity. With Harris it’s all that and then some as she’s improved in all areas to be labeled as a just about complete player that put up numbers from everywhere
Daizha Norris-guard (Houston Lady Roadrunners) what impressed me most, the way Norris was clutch down the stretch of many games or the many games she dropped multiple threes or is it the fact that she simply has elevated her game and it appears height. She’s long and poised and the show she put on had me tag her Miss Clutch for the event
Sierra Wooley-guard (Texas Elite Adipure) battling injuries and coming back like ain’t nothing happened is a good story and this young lady definitely keeps coming back. Wooley is tough and physical from guard/wing spot on both ends plus her length plays a huge role on defense, either steals or rebounds but her long ball shooting has added to her arsenal
DaDa Evans-guard (Crossover) if you’ve ever ridden in a car with a turbo charger, picture that in a player and you have Evans who has speed but accelerate to another gear. Love her court vision and defense because if she’s own you, she’s own you. She can score multiple ways and her ball handling under pressure adds to her repertoire
Imani Robinson-wing (Austin Elite RFW) I use the name “silent assassin” sparingly but Robinson is definitely one that just sneaks in on you and delivers. She fills up the score sheet and is a double-double waiting to happen. Smooth jumper, she can defend and rebound and that wingspan has her over six feet
Sydney Carr-guard (Houston Elite) someone has to drive and this Carr stays fueled. Not only is she one of the top guards in the state you may not know about, she’s under control and either the one or the two. Strong body enables her to overpower smaller guards but her ability to score in the flow is on point
Eryka Sidney-guard (Houston Insiders Blue) simply one of the state’s top guards and when she’s own, few are better. She has unlimited range and her ball handling under pressure gets her wherever she wants. The body control makes her an and one waiting to happen but what I’ve loved watching is her ability to set teammates up for gimmes
CYDNEY RIVERA (CY FAIR PREMIER BLUE)
2018
Cydney Rivera-guard (Cy Fair Premier Blue) love the crossover and ball handling under pressure but the body control and ability to finish in tight situations, especially with contact, is what I’m noticing has improved. Well that midrange is looking pretty good and although I was trying to tweet her, I used S instead of C but boy do I see
Damaya Telemaque-guard (DFW Elite Houston 17U) I saw her at a camp for two minutes and was sold prior to her initial high school season. Poised and matured for her age and playing the one is a huge plus, she can score off the dribble, hit the short jumper and defend but her ball handling and ability to see the floor has jumped
