2014 Will Answer Many Dreams
A’JA WILSON
Last week was dedicated to the 2014 class as several young stars of the future from not only the Houston area, but across the state of Texas continued to give me a glimpse on what the next level will look like. Well, not only is the Houston area and the state loaded with talent, it’s big on the national level as well and I’m talking A’ja Wilson big, she’s the 6’6 young lady who caught my eye at Basketball on the Bayou with her club team the Palmetto 76ers. Wilson took over when it counted and ran the point at times and handled herself quite well. Speaking of big, East Bay Explosion’s 6’1 guard Mikayla Cowling is something many college coaches covet and that’s a big guard who can do multiple things and to top that off she has already committed Cal. I still can’t decide on what blew me away more from 6’0 Sydney Wiese. The 40 foot no look passes through traffic, or the 25 foot fade away jumpers she made for GSB Elite.
SYDNEY WIESE
West Coast Premier’s Chyanne Butler may not be anywhere near 6’0 but at 5’5 she proved she was the legit product because what’s the old saying, “if you can’t handle the heat”, well she showed she could cook with the best of them. Those were some of the many stars from outside of Texas I saw at Big State Flava and even more when I headed to Kentucky for the Adidas National Championships. To top that off the surrounding states around Texas are just gushing with talent, I mean that 2014 group of Arkansas Mavericks, probably with a piece here and there, could compete in a lot of next level conferences and I guess I can make a bold statement like that because I saw them at both BOB and Flava, but it didn’t stop there.
KIANNA SPEIGHT (ARKANSAS MAVERICKS)
Prime Time Nationals are growing and in a big way and unknown stars like Louisiana star Sueterrica Key from the Lady Renegades or Janae Arnold out of Oklahoma who did some major damage for Team Spirit; this is a very talented class. I always try and get something other than basketball out of these trips, surprisingly it helps keep me focused but one of the funniest things I’ve heard from a club coach was “it ain’t no fun when the rabbit got the gun” and as you can see Girlz Prep Report was hopping everywhere
