2014 Space City Jam Tip Sheet
ANNA MCCLEOD (SATCH) RECEE CALDWELL(FEAST) & MADISON SCHENCK (SATCH)
THE WOODLANDS, Texas- There is an unlimited amount of talented players roiling through Texas, many go unnoticed for whatever reasons and I’m sure it’s like that across the country. That’s one of the reasons why I love covering different events just to try and get a grasp on who can go, who will go and those that have gone in multiple systems and conditions. I’d seen seven of the eight players earlier I picked for the Space City Jam Momentum event Tip Sheet before and in the final, a solid HSAA North team defeated FEAST in the championship. I caught HSAA last month, Sara Williams and Lauren Pelegreen made the Tip Sheet from the PCA Classic, this time a couple of their teammates did while FEAST star Recee Caldwell continues to make me appear to be a genius at calling the young kids early
2014
Recee Caldwell-guard-FEAST-The only thing better than being among the top players at an early age is staying there when you graduate and the McDonald’s All American has simply done that. She’s my kind of dominate point guard, able to not only take over a game but to make her teammates better. Her seven three’s early Friday were almost effortless from everywhere and you have to wonder how things would have turned out if she hadn’t sprained her ankle
Alyssa Williams-guard-HSAA- Williams is a big guard with deep range and more importantly quite consistent. Catch and shoot players her size are great to have but even more impressive is her ability to guard smaller players on the perimeter not to mention ability to rebound on both ends
2015
Hannah Blair-forward-FEAST- Blair adds an additional scorer on a team when the point guard might get tripled team. I list her as a forward however she brings guard like qualities and with her size, I’m expecting a huge summer for her as her ability shoot the long ball will raise some eyebrows
ROESHANDA PATTERSON (NEW WAY)
2016
Anna McCleod-forward-SATCH-Last season McCleod added a hook shot, with either hand, this season I’m seeing an impressive spin move and I’m talking in traffic. Already one of the top long ball shooters in the state, her ability to keep working and improving is why so much BCS interest has generated
Madison Schenck-forward-SATCH-Two seasons ago Schenck was primarily a back to the basket player with a good body and decent size but watching her develop not only the ability to hit the three but handle the ball in the open court, under pressure. Her defense has also improved as she’s one of those double-double players waiting to happen
Taylor Hunter-forward-HCYA-I’m almost ready to add Hunter into that “scorer” category as she simply keeps elevating her game. Like the previous four names, she’s a six foot or better player that can shoot the three however her agility in traffic along with ability to finish while taking a bump has her being “JEFFERSONIZED”
Roeshanda Patterson-forward-New Way- Patterson plays the game “one way” and that’s hard baseline to baseline. She’s physical yet smart on both ends and pulled off the GPR acrobatics award as she made shots with contact sometimes from a 200 degree angle. She rebounds and defends well and that long ball is falling
2017
Delyssa Miller-forward-HSAA- I liked Miller a lot when I saw her play last month and after her performance this past weekend, this young lady is going to be huge. Blessed with size and strength is always a plus yet when you throw in desire as she simply showed that she wanted ”IT” more and I’m talking about rebounding or attacking the basket, well that’s something
