2014 Cy Fair Evaluation Camp Tip Sheet
Kayla Owens Chasity Patterson and Deauzya Richards
CYPRESS, Texas-With over 125 players in two sessions, the Cy Fair Evaluation Camp had wall to wall talent on hand to display their skills. I always tell players I’m looking for progression from those I’ve already seen but it’s always great to catch newcomers
2015
Makenzie Ellis-6-1 forward-Booker T Washington HS-Tulsa OK-First impressions can be great especially when they leave lasting impressions. Ellis can stretch the defense with her range and also showed she could attack from the winds. Simply put, she knows how to score many ways
Kennedy Leonard-5-7 guard-Southlake Carroll HS-Southlake TX- The Colorado commit is one I expected big thing from as a freshman and her game expanded to more than just a good combo guard. Leonard’s midrange and taking defenders off the dribble ability will open more eyes this summer
2016
Robin Beck-6-1 guard-Manvel HS-Rosharon TX-Beck has done some amazing things prior to her transferring to Manvel and her ability to take over on both ends of the floor has grown. She can be a nightmare to defend or when she defends
2017
Chastity Patterson-5-5 guard-North Shore HS-Houston TX-Patterson was nicknamed “The Future” by me in the sixth grade and the expectations I had have been more than solidified. She’s one off the top players in the country and at the one she makes her teammates better
Deauzya Richards-6-0 guard- Cy Ranch HS-Cypress TX-Richards midrange and long range game made huge jumps this season and her ranking will make the same jump this summer. 2017 is a monster class and she’s definitely scary
Kayla Owens-6-1 wing-Langham Creek HS-Houston TX-I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s dunking before her senior year. She’s over the rim effortlessly plus her three ball is going in the same way to add with being a terror in the paint
Marissa Banfield-5-6 guard-Westbury Christian HS-Friendswood TX-Prototype point guard, well sort of as she looks to set her teammates up first however when needed, she’s shown she can take the game over. She’s heady and makes very few mistakes if any but she knows how to break defenses down
2018
Charli Collier-6-3 forward-Crosby MS-Crosby TX- Collier has already committed to Texas and her improvement has her able to face the basket and defend on the perimeter. The midrange was clicking for the ball handling and she did a crossover at the camp that lost me and I was in the stands
Jasmine Smith-5-6 guard-Labay MS-Houston TX-Smart and solid to simply spectacular at times is the perfect way to sum her up. She’s always been one that understood the simple things early but her skill set will have her on the short lists of many schools
Deja Kelly-5-6 guard-Luna MS-San Antonio TX-I’ve called many kids “can’t miss” in elementary school and to this day I haven’t been wrong. Kelly was added to that list last year and she continues to show she’s going to be a player in the mix for MDAA and other honors
