2013 Top Uncommitted Players
AJ ALIX
The first time I saw AJ Alix was when she was in the seventh grade at Pershing Middle School playing on the eighth grade team in a tournament and simply dominating the competition. Even though the competition wasn’t that strong, the young lady just happened to have that “it” factor and after watching her score at will against older players in club ball the very same season, I was sold and “The Real Deal” was on the GPR map.
If you’ve followed her high school career which includes leading Bellaire to the Region 3 championship game as a freshman, scoring 40 points in a five point loss, to coming out of nowhere and finally becoming recognized as one of the area’s Top 100 players. Although I called AJ a Top 100 player before her freshman season, she continues to silence the critics who used to talk about what she couldn’t do however when you prove them wrong again and again, well you just have to give credit where it’s due.
Alix also leads the list of the top four uncommitted players left from the area and each one of these players have either been to state or like Alix, help their teams get very close.
Brianna Taylor helped lead Dekaney to the state finals this year in her first injury free high school season. I also tabbed her as a Top 100 player when she played for me before entering high school but injuries have been among some of the reasons she hasn’t “blown up on the circuit”.
Kelsey Lang helped lead The Woodlands to the Region 2 semifinals and her bulking up in size has raised her stock as high as her height which is 6’4.
Carol Willie’s stock also continues to rise, after all the 6’2 post did help lead Cy Falls to the state semifinals where they lost to eventual champ Duncanville.
