2013 GPR 3rd Coast Tipsheet
2017 CHASITY PATTERSON
When I evaluate an event, I’m looking at a number of things especially hidden talent that I may be seeing for the first time and also progression from those I already know about. Team Ichiban’s 3rd Coast Memorial Weekend Showdown gave me all that and more and I was so impressed with the event that I’ve already inked in for next season. Several players stood out over the event, please remember I have a scouting service for college coaches to subscribe too and I’m giving enough free information as it is. With that being said, these are the players who I’m listing this time
2014
Haley Frias-5’8 guard-Austin Elite Black
I saw her club coach tweet he hadn’t seen her miss many shots during the event and that’s on the money because she has a stroke. Midrange or long range, it doesn’t matter because she’s home on the range when she steps on the court. The more I watch her the more I’m impressed by her knowledge of the game which had a lot to do with her high school team winning state
Aurmani DeGar-5’7 guard-Team Ichiban Genesis Elite
DeGar is a very talented young lady who played on a high school team with several big names however the more look at her, the brighter her future appears. She’s another player that can score multiple ways, most importantly the 10-15 foot jumper. She’s also handled ball well, can finish with either hand and sees the floor well
Caitlyn Modesett-5’9 guard-Cy Fair Platinum 16U
When you have a long and agile player that can score from anywhere, think of Modesett. I tagged her as a GPR Rising Star while she was in middle school and she’s lived up to the billing. I probably should have name her “Zonebuster” because she has NBA range and with her length, play her too close and she’ll shoot over you
2015
Anacia Wilkinson-6’1 forward-Cy Fair Nike Elite 15U
I saw potential in this young lady as a freshman and I figured once the fire started to burn, she would be doing damage. After watching her play this weekend, that old saying “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” as she heated up the gym on both ends. She’s so long and can elevate on top of that which makes her a legitimate threat and with her height, her best years are ahead of her
2016
Crinesha Davis-5’8 guard-Duncanville
I’m spelling the name wrong more than likely but I got the game right which is more important, well almost. Davis stepped in with the big girls and played dividends as she’s super athletic and brings tons of energy to a very talented school team. I think her composure, especially on championship Sunday is what impressed me most but the kid can play
Jae Branch-5’9 guard-Texas Preps Elite 2014
When she was 10, she had it and now that she’s teenager, she’s giving it everything she’s got to show everyone she belongs. She’s matured into a very good ballplayer that not only plays well but analyzes the game. She averaged close to 20 in high school but her passing is what blew me away, especially a left handed no look through traffic, of yeah, it was a bounce pass
2017
Madison Washington-5’7 guard-DFW Elite 817
I know I use the word impressed a lot but trust me, it takes a lot for me to use it and it fits with Washington. In one short year, I’ve seen a good player become a very good player and I’m seeing big things coming from this young lady. She’s getting stronger and handling the punishment well plus her outside shooting keeps getting better and when you can spin and finish, well I’m impressed
Shekinah Green-6’0 whatever-DFW Urban Elite
I list her as whatever because she’s going to do just that on the court. She played all five positions at one point but she’ll wind up being a three or a four. Great body and along with it she’s intense and brings energy. She understands how to get to the basket at a young age and her size enables her to finish under difficult circumstances. She’s going to be hard to handle on the court once she enters high school
Chasity Patterson-5’6 guard-Cy Fair Ogwumike
I videoed her as a sixth grader and put it on YouTube and in the video I called her “The Future”. Over the weekend, I tweeted “The Future Is Now” and once you see her play, you’ll know exactly why I said it. Poised beyond her years, Patterson is a game changer that can score on almost anyone. When you’re this young and playing this type of heat and not letting it phase you, you got yourself a special player, trust me I know
