It's All About The Girls Tip Sheet

2019 Liz Scott Klein Oak

ELIZABETH SCOTT (Klein Oak)

HUMBLE, Texas-Plenty of questions rolled through my head as I traveled down the beltway prior to the “It’s All About The Girls” event being held at The Gym and I left with a pretty good feeling about a number of things. First, Klein Oak is definitely going to be in the mix for the playoffs, Channelview, once they get healthy could make a run in R3, Humble has some exciting players and will surprise many while Tomball Memorial with their twin towers and both teams could make some noise down the stretch in the 5A playoffs. 1A Chireno definitely has pieces to the puzzle as they competed well against the larger schools and one thing I can say MacArthur is they never quit no matter what. Each team had some standout players and here are a few from the event

Elizabeth Scott (Klein Oak) If I gave an MVP award, it would have to go to this young lady and what impresses me even more than tagging her “Great Scott” as a 6th grader because of her inside dominance is her ability to transform to the 3 position in college showing range, ball handling and the floater, she’s only a freshman

Anna Singer (Klein Oak) I figured out the lyrics definitely went with the tune as she did multiple things to catch my eye including consistent scoring from the outside and playing passing lanes

Randi Blackburn (Klein Oak) also a deep threat that is close to a mirror image of Singer. Good BB-IQ and plays within herself

Arianna Taylor (Channelview) four threes in the first half of one game, okay her foot was on the line one of them but she’s over six feet and continues to work on facing the basket

TaShawna Riggs (Channelview) pleasant surprise as she brought heat on D and showed a variety of offensive weapons including another gear accelerating to the basket

Diedre Dobbins (Channelview) I’ve been watching her forever and I love success stories so she’s definitely back and healthy. Loves applying pressure on both ends and made things happen including several and one opps

Karrington Donald (Humble) glue that holds team together, poised on both ends and can take over offensively when needed

Amanda Ferry (Humble) another freshman I saw greatness in the horizon from as a 6th grader and she continues to add more physicality to her game

Kendall Kossie (Tomball Memorial) strong interior player, runs floor and doesn’t mind banging in paint on either ends

Jalyn Clay (Tomball Memorial) she’s 6’2 and a legitimate D1 player though available, she shouldn’t be. Strong inside and can face the basket and score

Chloe Woodson (Chireno) undersized inside player that won’t back down and finishes against taller players consistently. Good timing and very athletic

Lainey Lee (Chireno) I’ve seen some shooting exhibitions but when you step out of a car after being on the road for over two hours and drop five three’s… That’s really no surprise, she dropped 97 last season. Good frame and knows how to create

Christine Boutte (MacArthur) Mental toughness, team player and won’t quit and even though she’s the best player on her team she’s very supportive. Athletic and strong, she can play somewhere at the next level
