2014 The Last Run Tip Sheet

2014 Last Run Neely

SHALONDA NEELY

THE WOODLANDS, Texas-John Lucas second annual showcase brought in a mixture of teams and showed this wouldn’t be The Last Run, especially with the help of firepower organizations such as Boo Williams and the WP Celtics who had some national caliber players  of their own including the top 2017 on many services Megan Walker. I caught a glimpse of just about everyone and once I have everything I need to do my job, it’s on and the talent spread out over the four courts was definitely that. Several bright spots among the event including a talented group of young Texas kids ready to have the torch passed but here are a dozen that simply stood out while I was watching. Also check out the Under The Radar Tip Sheet I did earlier

2015

Diamond Puebla- 5’9 forward (Hightower HS) Relentless on the boards is the easy way to call it but she just brought so much energy that her teammates fed off of it.  Strong upper body also helped her finish with contact

Martina Rawls-5’9 forward (Ball HS) Galveston, TX –I compared her to a female Charles Barkley because she plays bigger than her size. She’s 2 inches under 6’0 but she plays 3 inches over, can score inside or out plus defend

Megan Worry-5’11 guard (Lumberton HS) Watching her stroke that ball over the years has been a joy, she can simply fill it up and you definitely don’t have to WORRY about offense when she’s around. She creates mismatches across the board and is putting it on the floor for baskets

Shalonda Neely-6’2 forward (Arlington Country Day School) Jacksonville, FL-First impression left me somewhat speechless as she showed she could dominate in the paint, on both ends while scoring and defending on the outside

2016

Ciera Crudup-5’7 guard (Highland Springs HS) Highland Springs, VA- Love watching girls that can score on the break stopping on a dime and nailing the 15 footer time after time. That first step is also a problem for defenders, showed range and did a good job defensively

Tyra Cormier-6’0 forward (Westbury Christian HS) when a player wants it and works at it, it can happen and Cormier simply keeps getting better. She’s added some moves in the paint and can overpower bigger players

 2014 Last Run Savage

LACEE SAVAGE

2017

Lacee Savage-5’10 wing (Clear Creek HS)-She was good last year but that corner has been turned as she’s heading toward an upgrade. Super athleticism and never takes a play off, nightmare to defend and scarier when she defends you

Irenisha Johnson-5’10 forward (Girls and Boys Prep)-Up, up and away is the easy way to call it but Johnson is one of the most explosive jumpers I’ve seen period. She can go up twice before most players go once and her strength enables her to change games either offensively or defensively

Julia Schwake-5’11 guard (George Ranch HS)- She already was long and could shoot it but that growth spurt will make college coaches notice even more because they love big guards that can shoot and she can definitely do that with the best of them

2014 Last Run Kelly Telemaque

DEJA KELLY & DEMAYA TELEMAQUE

2018

Arianna Taylor-6’0 forward (Channelview HS) Love watching players take it to another level and Taylor keeps working and has made a jump since I saw her in May. Plenty of upside and with her desire to just outwork you, big things are ahead

Demaya Telemaque-5’7 guard (Summer Creek HS) Talent is everywhere, even if they don’t play club ball and although she played on a team loaded with talented guards, what she did at the camp on Friday against some of the top guards caught my eye.  A few adjustments here and there will make her a Top 100 player, archive that!

2020

Deja Kelly-5’8 guard (Luna MS) San Antonio, TX- Fast forward six years when I’ll probably be whipping out the black Shinola on my hair talking about “ I told you so” about another one. Kelly simply plays beyond her years and as a 6th grader I said she could make any HS team in the area, well she would be an all-district player on any team in the city as a 7th grader if the ballots weren’t stuffed
