Cy Fair Fall Classic Tip Sheet

2014 Cy Fair FC Matthews

TIARA MATTHEWS

CYPRESS, Texas- Al Coleman’s inaugural Cy Fair Fall Showcase closed with a bang, well at least for me simply because it gave me a chance to see the teams I feel have the best chance to win Region 3, it also gave me a preview of the final season of 2015 McDonald All American locks and Texas commits, Lashaan Higgs and Jordan Hosey and if they aren’t new keys are needed for the process. It also gave me the chance to watch future players I already have as MDAA locks, Chasity Patterson and Deauzya Richards, both from the 2017 class as well as 2018 Texas commit Charli Collier. A steady flow of next level players were rolling in each gym at Cy Woods on Sunday and there were several standouts that simply took over when needed. I’m touching on every team I saw at the event, I’ve already dropped five at you but today belongs to the ones I feel have the strongest shot at getting out and even though I’m a genius at picking talent, the best teams don’t always get out of here due to injuries or sometimes influences away from the court but all I can predict is what I think will happen so stay tuned for that but now, the Tip Sheet plus an out of town Tip Sheet coming later

2015

Lashaan Higgs-5’9 point (Cedar Ridge) The only knock most people had about Higgs game was the outside shooting, well I watched shoot over 60% from mid and long range and she was triple double waiting to happen. She’s ready to go in and play at Texas right now

Jordan Hosey-6’1 wing (Manvel) Hosey is one young lady I am truly going to miss and for a number of reasons however I have never seen one play harder, well that could actually play and continue even after being banged up. She elevates over everyone to score and rebound and she’s a nightmare in the open court

Alexis Adams-6’2 wing (Westside) Adams is probably the most underrated unsigned player in the city, she’s ultra-athletic and can change games defensively. Offense has taken leaps over the past season but she’s a steal waiting to be picked up

2016

Hannah Hopkins-6’2 forward (Atascocita) Hopkins is a rare breed of player as she can bang and go physical or simply taunt opponents with finesse. She’s also long and understands how to position herself for easy baskets as well as hit the 10-12 footers consistently

Tiara Matthews-6’0 forward (Kempner) Pound for pound, inch for inch saying applies because this young lady simply keeps getting better. She’s a throwback player who doesn’t take any plays off and is a double-double waiting to happen. I knew she would create problems down low however facing the basket is creating issues as well

2014 Cy Fair FC Owens Richards

KAYLA OWENS & DEAUZYA RICHARDS

2017

Chasity Patterson-5’5 point (North Shore) If I call someone “The Future” in elementary school, that should be enough, well I did and she is and as her mailbox was enlarged over the summer, so has her range as she’s stroking it with ease from everywhere. Patterson is smart; she knows the game and can take over when needed

Deauzya Richards-6’1 wing (Cy Ranch) All I remember was watching this slender 7th grader in orange shoes and I said she had to potential to be a MDAA and if I was as proficient at picking stocks as I am players, the SEC would be investigating me. She can play all five positions, well, and has thee mentality you will not beat her

Kayla Owens-6’2 wing (Langham Creek) Owens will put up some triple doubles this season, maybe even quadruple because she commands so much attention and is one of the best passers at her size. The athleticism is breathtaking; she simply jumps over opponents as she’s usually around the square

2018

Charli Collier-6’5 forward (Barber’s Hill)I didn’t call her an MDAA in the 5th grade but I said she was BCS but two years later, I did actually lock her in. Eloquent on off the court, she is creating problems multiple ways. You can’t guard her in the paint and watching her begin to master the crossover facing the basket and hitting the midrange is scary, well not for me

Catherine Reece-6’3 wing (Cy Woods) Didn’t realize she was at “The Woods” but what you have here is a potential twin tower nightmare. Reece impressed me so much last season, simply because she’s poised, can finish with contact and also showed a variety of moves as well as scoring from midrange
